"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

I Haven’t the Foggiest

Gary Sanchez got everyone good and mad at him last night by jaking it not once but twice, both costly, both painful to remember, as the Yanks lost by a run in Tampa. To make matters worse, turns out Sanchez is headed back to the DL. Now, it didn’t seem like an injury kept him from just giving up on the play in the 9th inning, but man, talk about some bum luck. Now he’s got the growing perception that he is some kind of a chump. Is he a great young talent or the next Joba? Just another over-hyped young New York Yankee?

Stay tuned. In the meantime, Yanks have to get out of their own way and start winning again.

Tonight gives our pal Masahiro.

Never mind the chatter:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

[0] Now he’s got the growing perception that he is some kind of a chump. Is he a great young talent or the next Joba?

Well, Joba played 9 years and ended up with 7.6 WAR ... Gary has played just under 2 full seasons ... and has 7.6 WAR.

So no, he's not another Joba.

Frankly, he hasn't looked 100% healthy since he came back and last night was not the first time he's protected his legs while hitting or running ... it was EVERY time. For Boone-y to pull a "Shocked! SHOCKED!!" about what happened in the 9th, reflects badly on him and the coaching staff.

Boone-y should just be thanking his lucky stars that everybody could throw Sanchez under the bus, because it totally distracts from his mind-bogglingly stupid decision to bunt Didi and take the bat out of Stanton's hands ...

7 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 7:22 pm

14 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 7:42 pm

I wonder if the best lineup isn't Gardner, Judge, Stanton, Bird isn't the best first 4 against RHP ...

15 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 7:59 pm

Latest on Britton trade from MLBTR:

8:01pm: The two sides are in agreement on a trade, tweets Heyman. Presumably, that agreement is still pending medical reviews.

7:50pm: Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that Triple-A lefty Josh Rogers could also be a part of talks. The 24-year-old doesn’t rank among the Yankees’ top tier of prospects, but he’s worked to a 3.95 ERA with 6.8 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 1.07 HR/9 and a 40.1 percent ground-ball rate in 109 innings (19 starts) for the team’s top affiliate in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre so far in 2018.

7:32pm: Three players would be going back to the Orioles in the deal, tweets Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com. Martino tweets that other prospects are in the proposed deal, but Tate would be the headliner of the trade.

[17] I don’t know

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 8:08 pm

Well, that was a wasted opportunity to finish this game off.

Seems like the 2nd half has already seen more than its share of that ...

22 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 8:09 pm

Update:

8:01pm: The two sides have reached an agreement on who will be involved in the trade, per Heyman (Twitter links). The agreement is still pending medical reviews. Sherman tweets that Rogers will indeed be in the package if the trade is finalized, as will Triple-A reliever Cody Carroll.

23 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 24, 2018 8:11 pm

Huh, Britton. That makes for some bullpen.

24 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 8:13 pm

[23] Chapman insurance ... plus, the end of The Chasen Shreve Experience!

Also, JFC, Tanaka, what the fuck is the point of getting ahead of CJ Crohn 0-2 if you're going to throw him meat?!?!?!?

25 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 24, 2018 8:17 pm

9:03pm ET: Sherman says the deal is Tate, Rogers, and Cody Carroll for Britton. Now we’re just waiting for the official announcement.

I likey ...

Just your regular 9AM PST start for today's game!

40 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 11:13 am

Yeah, weird noon start.

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 11:16 am

Give an assist on that single to Stanek's butt!

(Judge would likely have been out without the deflection)

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 11:34 am

BIRD! Dropping the bunt against the shift!

HAH!

43 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 11:36 am

Finally, take advantage of the stupid shift

44 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 12:07 pm

Dammit, that's another one Stanton just missed the last 2 nights.

45 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 12:24 pm

Take that, shift.

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 12:55 pm

Double aw shit.

49 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:11 pm

This is on the offense. Bullpen game from a low revenue club should result in a blow out.

50 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:43 pm

Romo at 3rd?

Nice!

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:51 pm

Uh, Yay?

Can't imagine Romine will manage anything here ... well, except an out.

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:53 pm

Better than a double play ...

53 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:58 pm

Yup an out.

54 rbj   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:58 pm

Grumble, grumble, grumble

55 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 25, 2018 1:58 pm

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.

That was Ball 4.

What a shitshow series from the offense.
