"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

A Way Out West

Yanks out on the West Coast for 9 games starting tonight in Oakland. They’ve got 3 again the A’s then down to L.A. for 3 against the Dodgers and finally 3 up in Seattle.

If you’re hanging up late night this should be fun. Long trip like this can be a horror show. Let’s hope they avoid that and just handle their own.

Never mind the rearview mirror:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I’m out. Though Saturday 4 pm is reasonable. The Sunday night baseball.

I wonder if Kay makes the long trip. I’d think that his surgery is too recent to be in a closed cabin for so long.

Reunited, and it feels so good ...

Love these west coast games, 1105AM start here in the Big Mikan. Me and thelarmis can hold down the fort in the later innings.

Hey, Dodger Thoughts!
I'll look forward to those games, Jon Weisman, even though (a) I think you're gonna win that series, and (b) actually I'm not going to watch them because I go to bed at 10:30 EDT.
But, cool, blast from the (my) past.

[2][4] Yep!
10:30, eh RI Yank? Don't be ashamed, I think you have a few years on me and these days I often fall asleep on the couch before 10 while watching the MLB recaps...

West Coast! End of summer. End of my late nights. Caught a tv from across a bar earlier. I thought they were showing Randy Johnson highlights. It actually was a AAA pitcher called up by A's. A.J. Puk. 6'7"
Wow, Gary!

[5] You old fart! I just turned 56 (yesterday) and I'm up past midnight every night.

As Spike Lee said, "Wake the fuck up!" ;>)

One last word, "I am Gary."

8 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:24 pm

BOOM goes Kraken!

9 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:24 pm

[7] Happy B-Day! You're up past midnight, but you don't get up at 6 like me! :)

10 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:26 pm

I am looking forward to the Chapman-Chapman match up later on.

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:27 pm

Ouch. Don't throw that again.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:29 pm

JFC! Nice 1st inning.

13 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:29 pm

[9] Damn straight. Due to old age and maybe the heat I've been waking up at odd hours recently. I generally like to lie in until 8 or 9.

Jaysus, this game has gone to shit in a hurry.

14 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:31 pm

German must be taking advice from Paxton.

15 mhoward120   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:36 pm

16 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:39 pm

[15] So the Rays lost?

17 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:44 pm

Those bobble head dolls never look anything like the players. Who's making that shit?

18 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 20, 2019 9:48 pm

I hate the Fucking a's. Dammit!

19 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 20, 2019 10:07 pm

Looks like German got a fresh chunk of chaw. Let's hope it helps.

20 Jon Weisman   ~  Aug 20, 2019 10:24 pm

[4] We'll see who wins the series, but I think one thing we can count on is the papers making way too much about the result :)

I think the Saturday and Sunday games will be over before your bedtime.

21 Ken Arneson   ~  Aug 21, 2019 1:24 am

Well, if Jon is here, I guess I need to show up, too. Hello, everybody!

22 Greg G   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:29 am

The Yanks almost always suck in Oakland.

It just didn't feel like our game. It wasn't like the As knocked German around too much, just a few misplaced pitches.

The encouraging part is Sanchez and Judge mashing. These 2 seem like old veterans at this point, but I hope Judge is getting his timing back or over his undisclosed injury. Oblique injuries can take a long time to heal, and maybe he isn't 100%?

If we can get a few starts for Severino and he could be a force for the Yanks. September call ups will be a huge help this year for this walking wounded squad.

Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle with a young arm or two?

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 21, 2019 9:32 pm

Didi to Tauchman, what a combo.

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 9:44 pm

Another nice start from Happ.

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 21, 2019 9:45 pm

[24] They really can't start him in the playoffs, can they?

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 9:58 pm

I can't wait to not see Happ in October.

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 10:40 pm

Absolute dog shite.

28 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:03 pm

Must cash in.

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:13 pm

Maybin with 2 horrible strike outs tonight. Both with 2 outs and risp.

30 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:14 pm

[29] Can't keep relying on players like Maybin, Ford and Tauchman..regression is inevitable :(

31 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:33 pm

That's 2 back, still got a chance.

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:36 pm

True true, Mr. OkJT. Though nothing will matter in the end if the pitching continues to slide.

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:43 pm

Ha. Here's that dude I thought was Randy Johnson when I saw him on TV yesterday.

34 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:49 pm

[33] They didn't give him much a chance, three batters?

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:50 pm

The pretend banging of bat on roof kills me. Lol...C'mon, Yanks. Tie it up!

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:53 pm

That was his debut. Short leash.

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 21, 2019 11:59 pm

The Yankees have had more garbage swings and ks these last 2 nights than I've seen all season. Oi!

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 12:11 am

Lame. Fucking Bollocks. Losing streak.

39 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 12:17 am

Puk is thinking, "Oh what fools these Yankees be."

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:31 pm

This series is brutal.

41 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:34 pm

The Cinderella Story is over.

What the hell was Tauchman doing out there? Looks like he was diving for a different ball.

Now Didi.

42 yankintexas   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:34 pm

I think we should probably prepare for this team losing in the first round, probably in 3 games. This pitching staff is absolutely garbage. The only way I see them advancing one round is if they play the Twins and that's only if they average 9 runs in each game.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:37 pm

Happ stinks. Paxton stinks. CC is toast. Tanaka is lost. U.G.L.Y.

44 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:38 pm

We need a Savages rant on this ump.

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:39 pm

Meanwhile, Verlander is in CY Young talks from what I've heard. Oi!

46 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:42 pm

Jaysus Christ this ump sucks.

47 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:43 pm

Keystone Yanks.

Gleyber needs new glasses.

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:44 pm

Bad Tanaka is BRUTAL Tanaka.

Fucking ugly.

49 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:44 pm

This team need an enema.

50 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:48 pm

[49] +1 for a reference to the best Batman movie!

51 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:48 pm

[48] Yes, but they've made at least 5 bad plays or misplays behind him, whether they were called errors or not. The whole team is playing like shit.

52 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:49 pm

[50] We aim to please.

53 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:53 pm

Piscoty always makes me think of Italian food.

54 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:54 pm

[51] This series has been a BRUTAL experience on both sides of the ball ...

55 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 22, 2019 9:54 pm

I will try my juju move of turning this game off and going to work. Thank me if it works.

56 cult of basebaal   ~  Aug 22, 2019 10:00 pm

I'm going to back to watching "A Bridge Too Far".

Which probably should be the nickname for this season ...

57 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 10:52 pm

Preach it, Cone. Move up Gleyber.

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 22, 2019 11:30 pm

sigh.

59 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 23, 2019 10:53 pm

Nobody watching? We've got HRs by Hizonnor and Kraken and a Grand Salami by Sir Didi.

60 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 23, 2019 11:39 pm

Wow. All alone. Jazz? Were you out too late last night?

A-Rod says, "This is a statement game for the Yankees."

61 mhoward120   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:13 pm

Kinda annoying when the sound and picture aren’t in sync.

62 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:20 pm

Howdy. Finally a game I can watch.

63 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:40 pm

too late for last nite. Happy to be watching now, even if it's FS1. btw, hate the black and white unis.

64 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:42 pm

and sorta funny to see CC in short pants.

65 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:50 pm

nice swing CC!

66 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:54 pm

Good, out. Now we don’t have to worry about CC on the basepaths.

67 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:57 pm

Of course #obligatoryhomer.

68 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 3:57 pm

69 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 4:14 pm

70 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 4:15 pm

Judge!

71 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 4:23 pm

uh, is it Glayber or the 1st base coach who forgot how many outs there were?

72 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Aug 24, 2019 5:13 pm

Lead off hit is good

73 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 5:28 pm

Rats

74 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 5:37 pm

Double switches are annoying.

75 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 6:10 pm

Nerts, walking the dog didn’t work.

Nice idea, Didi. But Scooter is displeased with the execution.

76 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 6:11 pm

Fu blue. Way high.

77 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 6:15 pm

Hmmm

78 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 6:17 pm

Ruh roh, clean slide to me but don’t like to see that.

79 rbj   ~  Aug 24, 2019 6:20 pm

Safe at second!
