Good eye, Jetes, good eye.

9 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 4:53 pm

It's a nice day today, AB. (Though apparently not in Seattle.) I guess our banter buds are outside, where we should prolly be too.

Jetes doing a good job getting on base!

10 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 4:56 pm

Let's go dickheds, time to capitalize.

11 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 4:57 pm

9) prolly. But at least we have each other. LOL

12 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 4:57 pm

Dickheds, is that one of those Dutch Belgian words? Sounds insulting.

13 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 4:58 pm

Ah, the ol' swinging bunt. OK, Alex, time to drive home a pair.

14 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 4:59 pm

16 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 4:59 pm

[11] A great comfort to me! (But now I feel terrible that I have to go drive my kid somewhere. Let's hope Sterling has a good call or two while I'm driving him!)

17 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:01 pm

horseshit.

18 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:02 pm

26 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 5:10 pm

HAHAHAHA.

Ugly flop from Nunez.

27 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:11 pm

Looks like Jiminez tagged Swisher at the plate, but FUCK IT!

Then Nunez with a triple and a bellyflop into third!

28 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:11 pm

That flop was GREAT! Especially with a 6-0 lead.

29 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:12 pm

82 pitches for Vargas through 3. Time to go to work, CC.

30 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:24 pm

Short day for Vargas.

31 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:26 pm

Grandy with a one out double off the wall. Missed another homer by a foot or two.

32 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:26 pm

Teixeira promptly singles him home.

33 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 5:29 pm

Oy, Alex swung right through that.

34 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 5:37 pm

I did get some fun calls from Sterling! Back now. Thanks, thelarmis, for keeping our host company.

35 thelarmis   ~  May 29, 2011 5:40 pm

36 Just Fair   ~  May 29, 2011 5:44 pm

Busy ass weekend. These are the first pitches I've seen in Seattle. Cone's killin' it with the defensive metrics. lol.....What's his handle on the Banter? ; )

Well, I thought it was LONG gone too, so I'm not gonna give DJ grief over that one ...

44 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:02 pm

[35] I got this from Sterling, by the way:

"It is high, it is far, it is... off the wall..."

Granderson's double.

45 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:08 pm

Wow, Smoak crushed that.

46 rbj   ~  May 29, 2011 6:08 pm

Looks like I missed the score truck delivery while I was cooking.

47 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:08 pm

0-2 base hit. Nertz.

48 thelarmis   ~  May 29, 2011 6:09 pm

[44] don't you have another kid you can drive somewhere? ; )

49 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:10 pm

[48] The other ones drive themselves, dammit. I could drive someone else's kid.

50 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:12 pm

SIddown, Moose.

51 thelarmis   ~  May 29, 2011 6:15 pm

Sleep well, thelarmis.

53 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:17 pm

"Line drive in the gap...aaaaand, HE'S DANCIN'." Kenny Singleton calling Alex Rodriguez's base hit.

54 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:18 pm

51) Sweet dreamz, Hoss.

55 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:22 pm

I know Swish missed two fat pitches there but good to see him draw the walk.

56 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:23 pm

By the way, that Andruw bases loaded double is my favorite Yankee hit in weeks. Slurp.

57 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:24 pm

Alex, I'm making a tortellini salad, and I think I'll mix up a couple of champagne cocktails for me and the missus. (Kids are all off at friends' places.) How's supper looking at the Belth residence?

58 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:25 pm

I do so love David Cone ...

59 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:25 pm

Nice Paul Simon reference by Cone... "must be a lack of sleep, I've had that song stuck in my head for a couple of days."

60 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:30 pm

57) Not sure yet, I think it'll be something light. The wife took me out to dinner last night for my b'day and we had a ridiculous meal at an Italian place in the west village called L'Artusi. It was really special. For an app, we shared roasted morel mushrooms covered with a fried egg. Em had a wonderful and light pasta stuffed with fresh peas, they were little pockets. And I had orchiette with sausage and tomatoes.

We had a side dish of crisp potatoes with a horseradich cream sauce on the side. The potatoes were small guys that were smashed down, salty and crisp but tender inside. They were really great. I also had a side of snap peas with chilies. They were fine but the least satisfying thing we tried.

And for dessert, bro, I had a piece of olive oil cake that was served with a creme fraische mousse and some golden raisins that were cooked down with some kind of liquor. There was no alcohol taste in the raisins, they were sweet, but not syrupy, and the raisins retained a little tartness that was appealing. The cake was moist, and it was, well, shit, man, I'd go back just for dessert alone. The place is a little on the pricey side, but not enough to break the bank and if you are ever in New York, man, I couldn't recommend it more.

61 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:32 pm

I'll accept either "The Goose" or "The Lemmy" as the proper moniker for that 'stache ...

62 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:32 pm

[61] Or, "The Megan's Law".

Depends on the owner, I suppose ...

63 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:35 pm

Here's the cake:

64 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:36 pm

L'Artusi, I will not forget.
Italians have a way with potatoes, don't they? It makes me embarrassed that I sometimes think of potatoes as dull.

There's a little place in Providence I went to a couple of weeks ago that served tiny crisp ones with brussels sprouts and aioli. Man.

Oh, hey "just desserts"! The theme for this evening.

65 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:39 pm

Fuck yeah!

Yeah, and you really need to use salt properly with potatoes. If you don't use enough, they just can be bland.

Here's the menu (which had some alterations last night due to seasonal changes):

66 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:44 pm

[65] Mm, mouth-watering.

Hey, speaking of food in the West Village, last month I had my first meal at Aqua Grill. I had a great time (I was eating with people I like a lot and hardly ever get to see, so that was part of it). Huge piles of shellfish and lots of (overpriced but good) white wine.

67 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 6:47 pm

And cult, feel free to chime in. (Or rbj or just fair, if you guys are still reading.)

Champagne cocktail in hand. Yum. (What other uses are there for Angostura bitters? I must have had this tiny bottle of bitters for three years.)

68 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:54 pm

[67] I'm here. Now you've got *me* wondering what I should do for dinner. I'm thinking I might wander down the street to the local Carneceria and pick up some carne asada to throw on the grill.

69 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:55 pm

Jebus, Granderson is SMOKING hot.

70 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 6:55 pm

Man, how i wish I had a grill...sigh...the downfall of city life.

71 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:58 pm

FAAAAAAAAAARGH.

72 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 6:59 pm

Well, that inning was a giant pile of BULLSHIT, 7-1 lead or not.

73 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 7:00 pm

[72] No inning in which Rob doubles is a giant pile of bullshit.

I'm not saying it was carne asada or a champagne cocktail, but.

74 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 7:01 pm

Uh, Curtis. Not Rob.
Wishful thinking.

75 OldYanksFan   ~  May 29, 2011 7:01 pm

Man... that is one UGLY car.

76 Chyll Will   ~  May 29, 2011 7:01 pm

[65],[66] Guys, the Cooking Channel is always looking for fancy-shmancy new shows to impress the gentry, you should audition now >;)

77 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 7:03 pm

[73] Curtis, you mean?

But it was, lead off double (that probably should have been a triple) and then: overswing, baserunning blunder, overswing.

0 runs scored.

*Exactly* the same sort of BULLSHIT we've become used to watching from this team the last month or so ...

78 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 7:05 pm

[77] Yes, Curtis, see [74]. That would be infuriating if the Yanks didn't have a big lead. But, they did!

[76] Takes more than that to impress you, though, huh Will?

79 RIYank   ~  May 29, 2011 7:07 pm

And there ya go.
Lance Pendleton.

80 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 7:07 pm

Well, that would have been a lot tastier if it was the broom game of a sweep, but, fuck, at least we salvaged ONE game of that series ...

81 cult of basebaal   ~  May 29, 2011 7:08 pm

[78] It's never to late to sweep the leg ...

82 rbj   ~  May 29, 2011 7:09 pm

[67] Still here, nice win. Just been eating din-dins (Omaha steak w/ a biscuit, with some Pinot Grigio. I like that wine in the warmer weather.

Nice win.

83 Alex Belth   ~  May 29, 2011 7:19 pm

RI, pictures of the L'Artusi in the game recap above!

84 Chyll Will   ~  May 29, 2011 7:25 pm

[78] Well, I certainly hope that's not a problem >;)
