I think that's actually less of a house money lineup than the 1st game featured.

In any case, let's hit hope they hit Lackey early and often, break the Red Sox's spirit and get the kid his 17th.

2 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 5:24 pm

Gee even the Angels are breathing down Boston's neck.

3 Jon DeRosa   ~  Sep 25, 2011 5:32 pm

getting on an air plane Saturday afternoon in NYC and getting off the plane Sunday night in Tokyo and then finding out when you finally log on that the Yanks have won two games against the sox? not a bad way to start a day.

4 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 5:43 pm

[3] Woohooo!
Mr OK Jon Tokyo.
And not just 'won'. Dominated them.

5 Jon DeRosa   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:05 pm

[4] but for a string of walk-off/extra inning hearbreakers, this might be the best september i can remember for the yanks.

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:08 pm

[3] Yo Jon, Welcome to Japan!
GREAT way to wake up on a Monday morning, and WELL DONE AJ!!!
Time to get grub and settle in for Game 2.

7 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:19 pm

If the Rays and Sox finished tied, how is it broken? Best head-2-head record or a playoff game?

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:29 pm

Looks like the Angels are about to implode themselves right out of the playoff picture.

Blew a 5-2 lead in the top of the 9th.

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:32 pm

Wow ... JD Drew back in the Sox lineup.

10 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:32 pm

7) If it ends in a tie they play a one-game playoff in Tampa.

11 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:32 pm

JD Who?

12 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:35 pm

If the Yanks go win this one, the Rays-Yanks series will start with a deadlock for the wild card. What is their mindset at that point? Interesting.

13 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:35 pm

Abreu at the plate to try and save the Angels' season.

14 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:36 pm

Good start for Nova

15 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:36 pm

[12] I assume we'll see another House Money lineup tomorrow and then the regulars for the final 2 games to get ready for the game on Friday.

16 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:36 pm

[12] Pena, Golson, Singleton, Romine, Betances. Got to respect the game!

17 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:42 pm

I only just noticed that JD Drew is playing. This is a rare treat!

18 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:43 pm

FUCK YEAH!!!!!

19 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:43 pm

Oh, boy. This is priceless.

Priceless.

20 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:44 pm

Yes, Mark! And it's a full blown melt down for Beantown.

21 mhoward120   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:44 pm

I'm sorry but watching the Red Cocks, I swear I hear Three Blind Mice playing in the background

22 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:46 pm

...

Is it wrong to laugh?

23 mhoward120   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:46 pm

If you don't laugh you'll shart

24 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:47 pm

Mr OK Jazz, it is a pleasure to get to watch this with you instead of your showing up at the end. I'm happy you get to see it.

25 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:56 pm

Quick dinner and it's already 3-0. Nice! Maybe this run will inspire another Jimmy Fallon/Drew Barrymore movie.

26 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:58 pm

Jesus!

27 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:58 pm

Man. Praise Jesus. Smashes one oppo but foul and then pulls in his hands and rips it down the left field line. Nasty!

28 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:59 pm

Beautiful hitting by the Jesus. Horrible base running.

29 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:59 pm

And then there's his immediate Jorgie impression. Fuck.

30 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:59 pm

Turned it on just as Tex's ball hit the fence. What a hoot!

Oh damn...

31 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 6:59 pm

Nice piece of hitting by Romine.

32 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:00 pm

The Red Sox hate Jesus.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:00 pm

Man, it would be nice to chase Lackey early. One big hit right now.

34 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:01 pm

And so it was, when Jesus had ended these at bats, that the people were astonished by his hitting.

But not by his base running. At least not in a good way.

35 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:02 pm

[24] Thanks, RIYank, likewise!
[25] Hysterical!!!!!

36 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:03 pm

[33] When they're on the ground, you step on their necks.

37 Jon DeRosa   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:09 pm

[35] i will be in Tokyo for the first game of the alds, i think,
will they show that on reg tv? Or do I need to find a place to watch it?

38 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:20 pm

I don't think the ALDS will be on NHK (national network) but check the channel NHK-BS1. If you're at a larger hotel they will have all the various NHK satellite and cable channels.

Sports bars will be showing it as well I'm sure.

39 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:22 pm

MLB.com just had a car commercial with who I think was the main singer from hair-metal band Poison..am I imagining this?

40 randym77   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:26 pm

It's Romine. I thought Montero might get a chance to catch.

41 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:28 pm

Rob rocks.

42 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:28 pm

bossa nova!

43 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:30 pm

[39] i didn't see it, but i imagine there's a very good chance you're right. bret michaels has been very popular the last coupla years, i think. i don't follow him at all, but i think he had (has?) a successful (and very stoopid) 'reality' show and that poison is still around and touring. the drummer has some kind of gear company and has ads in some drum magazines...

44 Jon DeRosa   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:31 pm

[38] Thanks MOKJT!

45 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:31 pm

[41] so, we've got a rock guy and a latin music guy. i think that combination can go quite well!

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:33 pm

The baby walks!

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:36 pm

rock 'n roll

latin music

walking bass line, for swing.

oh, and poison.

we are definitely covering our musical bas(s)es here!

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:37 pm

[39] Yeah, it's totally Bret Michaels.

WTF he's selling SUVs, I've got no idea.

Still not as bad as the Jenny McCarthy ads ...

49 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:41 pm

[43] Don't even know how to process that Poison are still around..though am sure they could still sell out here.
[44] Jon, google Legends Sports Bar or Tokyo Sports Cafe too if you want to watch with people. There is also the very expensive "MLB CAFE" in Ebisu, which amazingly last year did NOT show live MLB games, only replays at night..veyr odd.

50 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:43 pm

um, that's not good.

51 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:43 pm

Wow, Swish really misplayed that. Holy shit.

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:44 pm

damn you, nancy!

53 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:44 pm

Watch your lips! One of my favorite sayings.

54 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:45 pm

51) Yeah, easier said than done but he botched it.

55 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:45 pm

Aw rats.

56 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:45 pm

Left that first pitch up too against 'Tek.

57 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:46 pm

I'm a little worried. Nova is serving up pitches.

58 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:46 pm

Didn't make much of an effort to get away from that one, did he?

Stupid, Nova.

59 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:46 pm

Yeah, he's losing control, I feel like.

60 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:46 pm

Has Jason Varitek gained a ton of weight?

61 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:47 pm

Going back to 1976 is going back a ways? Hey you kids, get off the damn lawn.

62 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:47 pm

[58] Like hitting a potted plant.

63 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:47 pm

Dangerous AB here.

64 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:47 pm

Weak ground ball to second. Onions.

Hey, where's the Score Truck (tm) at?

65 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:49 pm

[64] Seriously, we haven't scored nearly enough runs against the slack-jawed mouth-breather for my tastes.

66 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:50 pm

DEEP

67 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:51 pm

[65] Seconded!

68 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:57 pm

65] Double digits.

69 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:58 pm

Settle down, Ivan.

70 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 7:59 pm

Nova seems to be getting his pitches up.

C'mon rook, bear down.

71 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:00 pm

Lame.

72 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:00 pm

Uh oh.
I think he was distracted by Crawford.

73 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:00 pm

Get somebody up.

74 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:01 pm

As much as I really sort of don't care, I still don't want to lose.

75 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:01 pm

Big challenge here for NOva.

76 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:01 pm

74) I wish I could not care but I's do, I's DO.

LOL

77 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:02 pm

On NESN, we get to see many shots of Clay Buchholz spitting.

78 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:03 pm

Hey, that was a strike. That ball three call. Damn.

79 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

[76] I want to win, I want to be the stake in their heart, but if we lose, I'll immediately be over it.

80 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

Oh, Robbie. : (

81 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

Thank god it was fatty.

But Oh, Rob!

82 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

That kinda stinks

83 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

FUCK.

DAMMIT, ROBBIE!?!?!?

84 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

Ugh Robbie wtf!

85 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:04 pm

CHrist, RObbie.

86 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:05 pm

I believe Crawford will score.

87 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:05 pm

Well, Tex just saved a tied game.

88 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:05 pm

I was right. But nice fucking play.

89 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:06 pm

I'd also rather not lose to John Lackey

90 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:06 pm

Teix so good with the glove. How do the defensive metrics rate him?

91 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:06 pm

The Red Sox have a lot of tiny players. More than their share.

92 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

Okay.

93 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

JUMPIN' JIMMINY

94 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

Well that's one way to do it.

95 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

Tagged him right in the cubes.

96 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

Yeah!Sit down, Pony!!

97 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:07 pm

Oh my god.
Good, because I thought Robinson was going to have the biggest embarrassment of the inning.

98 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:08 pm

JUST LIKE THEY PLANNED IT!

99 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:08 pm

C'mon knock this bum out of the fuggin game.

102 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:12 pm

Wow, the Pony was made a gelding there.

That was unusual...

103 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:13 pm

I wonder if this start will get them to give Ugly a post season start

104 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:14 pm

wtf happened? with both robbie and pony?

it says: midget fucker out at home on "runner's fielder's choice." i'm not sure i've ever seen that before...

105 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:15 pm

[90] not that great for some reason. but uzr isn't good for 1st basemen or catchers. but the metric don't seem to love tex, robbie or grandy, for some reason...

106 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:15 pm

[104] wild pitch bounced off wall back to Martin who dove to tag pony but pony jumped so he tagged pony in his groin.

107 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:17 pm

[105] I just dislike defensive metrics in general.

108 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:18 pm

[104] and forgot, Robbie whiffed on a routine grounder but it hit his glove, only went a few feet and still got steroid papi at first. Would have been a dp.

109 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:19 pm

[106] oh, wow. cool, thanks.

[107] yeah, i'm with you.

so...what did robbie do???

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:19 pm

[108] oh, i see. thanks man!

and btw, seamus - my screen name links to my website now, if ya wanna check it out...

111 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:19 pm

What exactly does Girardi need to see to know that Nova is cooked? Fucking idiot.

112 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:20 pm

Marco Scutaro hits like Barry Bonds against the Yankees. Why?

113 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:20 pm

Fucking Girardi.

114 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:20 pm

motherfucker.

i really don't wanna lose to this team for the 12th fucking time this season...

115 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:20 pm

Hi, I'm Joe Girardi. I'm a stupid fucking moron.

116 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:20 pm

Seriously, FUCK YOU GIRARDI.

117 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:21 pm

no. not vagitek. i fuckin' hate that giant bag o' douche.

118 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:21 pm

Yanks deserve to lose this one. And if they do, Giradi lost it right here.

119 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:21 pm

[110] oh cool thanks, I most certainly do.
Yeah nova needs a rest.

120 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:23 pm

Unbelievable. Just un-fucking-believable.

Nova'd been elevating since the 5th, barely escaped with the lead in the 6th and did JoeyJoeJoe even have somebody warming???

Of course not.

Fucking Girardi.

121 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:23 pm

If this game really mattered, do you think we would leave Nova in just so we can get the awful Boone Logan a lefty matchup?

122 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:24 pm

When did I become the calm, rational one?

123 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:25 pm

122) It's just irritating is all.

124 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:25 pm

[122] Are End of Times coming?

125 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:25 pm

[123] Irritating or irritated? Or both? :)

126 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:25 pm

My guess is Girardi wanted to see if nova could correct it. And since this game doesn't matter that's fine with me, in fact, I'd do the same. Remember were still trying to figure out what we'd have if we threw nova out there in post season.

127 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:26 pm

[106] Romine is catching. If it was Martin, the Pony would have probably suffered a prolapse.

128 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:26 pm

[121] Boone to Mattpat: awful that, sucka.

129 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:27 pm

[127] whoops my bad. Thanks for correction.

130 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:27 pm

I do wish Nova could have left on more of a high note. For that reason I wish Joe had taken him out.

131 seamus   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:28 pm

Nice

132 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:28 pm

good job, boone!

133 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:28 pm

[128] Much like Burnett earlier, I think we'd have been better off if Logan spit the bit.

134 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:30 pm

[133] But Boone has been a very good pitcher. He's had a couple of bad stretches, but he's also had some really good ones.

135 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:31 pm

[120] Did I miss an announcement on Rothschild? Where the fuck has he been tonight?

Was he sent home for something?

Because agreed on everything you said in [120] - I'm thinking I must have missed something because there better be a damn good reason Larry has been awol.

Please also tell me Coney nuttiness aside, they're not really thinking of making AJ the #3, right?

136 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:31 pm

OK rally! Make it hurt.

137 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:31 pm

Let's see if the Yankees have the will to come back in this game. Stomping on the Sox is more of the fans desire.

Nova prolly needed Martin there to help him through the third lineup cycle.

138 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:31 pm

Good start.

139 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:32 pm

Love Lackey's reaction.

141 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:33 pm

[134] He gives up way too many extra base hits to lefties. for my taste

142 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:34 pm

[139] Eric the Great! ; )

143 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:34 pm

C'mon Jesus. I BELIEVE!

144 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:34 pm

Wait [134], no sarcasm? I think you and I may be the only ones who think he is potentially very useful.

145 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:34 pm

[142] Hahahaha!

146 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:36 pm

If he didn't slide, think he would have gotten to third?

147 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:37 pm

Nice job today Salty.

148 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:38 pm

154 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:42 pm

Go eat some rocks, Lackey.

155 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:43 pm

So if Chavez is out, should Alex come in for him?

156 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:43 pm

[154] i'm a-gonna go eat some pizza in a few minutes. : )

157 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:43 pm

[149] BTW, very impressive website, and body of work. You are obviously an academic in the art of Jazz and Rock percussion.

Yankees tie the game. Let's see what the Sox have anything left in the tank. This non-pressure baseball watching can be interesting.

158 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:43 pm

Do they just stay with Boone here or go to Soriano?

159 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:44 pm

[150] Oh yeahhh!

160 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:44 pm

Anyone on Rothschild?

I've been irrationally fuming about him not going out to the mound until realizing I haven't seen any shots of him and thinking something must be up.

[155] I'm guessing Laird?

162 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:45 pm

[160] If he's not there, I'm sure Harkey is.

163 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:46 pm

[157] thelarmis, I didn't realize you linked your tag now, well done! Going to order the cd next week, stand by!

164 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:46 pm

Lousy 0-2 pitch.

165 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:47 pm

BOOOOOO on 0-2?!

166 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:47 pm

Yes! Eat it, Crawford.

167 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:47 pm

Wow. Thought he was safe

168 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:47 pm

He was not

169 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:48 pm

Ooooh. He was safe, no?
No, out!

170 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:48 pm

NICE. Like the crowd says "Boston sux!"

171 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:48 pm

I'm lovin' it!

172 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:48 pm

Romine earned his greens on that throw. Crawford was out by two feet.

173 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:48 pm

Damn. Our scrubs can throw.

174 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:49 pm

I missed most of the first game today to see Moneyball with the wifey. Wish I had watched the game...

175 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:49 pm

[174] It was awesome.

176 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:49 pm

Now, THAT was nice.

177 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:50 pm

Nice to see Big Sloppy casually jogging down to 1st base on that groundball. Gritner woul have been on 2nd.

178 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:50 pm

C'mon, one run, okay, maybe a couple, and then Mo.

Do it.

174) Moneyball wasn't any good?

179 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:51 pm

"Sweet Child Romine"! fri FauxJSterling on twitter.

[157] thanks, ken boyer - much appreciated!

if anyone here is interested in the jazz-rock stuff, there's a link to my fusion trio on the homepage...

[163] thanks, man! your support means a lot to me. whenever is good for to pick up a disc, i've got one here ready to mail out...

181 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:56 pm

Alright, it's about time Robbie ripped one into the RF stands.

182 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:57 pm

[174] I wouldn't say it wasn't any good, but I didn't love it. My wife did, and I think the rest of the audience did (near or at 100% women, presumably because the Sox and the Pats were playing this afternoon). I thought it was kind of talky, which is par for the course from Sorkin, and not all that compelling. No mention of the other reasons the A's were good in 2002, like the left side of the infield or the starting pitching. That said, I'm glad I saw it, it had some very cool moments, but I would have rather watched the Yankees beat the Sox.

183 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:58 pm

or not.

To the 9th!

184 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 8:58 pm

If this goes into free baseball territory, do Yanks just put in all scrubs?

185 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:03 pm

here we go...

186 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:03 pm

[184] I think both teams already have, with all the pinch runners.

187 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:04 pm

Ah, the dreaded non-save Mo.

188 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:04 pm

"Boston sucks" is very lame.

189 rbj   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:05 pm

Mo? Not like he needs the work.

190 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:05 pm

J.D. Drew..missed over 200 games since signing with the Sox.

191 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:05 pm

Scutaro.
I hate to say it, but this is not my favorite batter here.

192 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:05 pm

Of the many reasons I am grateful for being a Yankee fan, one is that the stadium generally only erupts into the "Boston Sux" chant when the Yankees are actually playing the Sox.

193 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:06 pm

I still hate this IBB.

194 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:06 pm

IBB to Scutaro? Ugh. I guess we'll see.

195 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:07 pm

Over Managing! Mariano should never IBB anyone, this is ridiculous. Absurd. Makes no sense. I don't get it. 分かりません。

O.K. Homer and pie.

203 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:09 pm

Yeah, it's just bad tactics. I mean, I knew he'd get Longname, but it's just bad.

206 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:10 pm

[188] Again, we are in agreement. I *despise* that chant.

The ugh is what are we going to pitch now if we don't score. I want this game worse than I should.

207 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:11 pm

Bard!
Hm, wrong move, I think. Should go to Papelbon.

208 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:11 pm

Mo didn't get that strike one call to Tex.

209 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:11 pm

.338 OBP for Teix this year..not so good.

210 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:12 pm

[206] I'm like Mattpat on this. If we win, I'll be really pleased; if we lose, I'll be over it very quickly.

211 Marek   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:12 pm

[206] Well Boston obviously doesn't suck. They're a very talented team. I'm still waiting for a handy replacement chant, though.

Great AB by Teix, whatever the result.

Hey, at least it's not Aaron Laffey ...

270 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:39 pm

Bud Selig on the hot line to Cashman. "You must give Boston every chance to win tonight".

Cashman to Girardi, " Leave the rookie in to hit against Paps, we can use the excuse that Martin was too dinged to catch the second game at all if it goes to extras".

Selig to Fox, "We will make sure the Red Sox are in the PS. Charge full rate for spots"

271 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:39 pm

[267] I don't get that Romine AB though. Why pinch hit with Jorge, going for the win and then let Romine face Papelbon, who he has no chance against?

272 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:40 pm

[267] Yeah, but why?

273 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 9:40 pm

306 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:05 pm

[291], [295] I knew that would resonate with at least a few of us on here.

Cone makes such a great point about the splitter that starts over the middle of the plate. I don't think in a million years I could hold off on swinging at a pitch that starts centered like that.

It's a great point because anything off to one side or the other is completely different.

321 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:18 pm

[317] Well, Mary is dead, or else presumably you'd have to pay her too.

322 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:19 pm

If he is bringing in Laffey, which I think he is, so help me fucking G--.

That guy seems like as nice a fellow as you can find, but dammit, he should have been taken away from Girardi three weeks ago.

Just fucking throw the bats and gloves on the field and forfeit, instead. Fuck that bullshit.

323 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:20 pm

[322] Probably right. Can't get too outraged if it rids us of Laffey though

324 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:21 pm

That looked a little better off the bat.

325 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:22 pm

Laffey, why?

326 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:22 pm

I forgot that the Red Sox hitters go to sleep in extra innings. That's helpful. Also, no A-Gon.

327 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:22 pm

Kay: "Joe's managing this one like he REALLY needs it." Bringing in Laffey is a sign of that?

328 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:22 pm

Fuck fuck fuck - two more batters of Wade against lefty righty guy with twelve fucking arms is better than Laffey. Fuck.

Argh this feels like wasting so much valuable time thanks to this ridiculousness. Fucking Laffey. Argh.

329 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:22 pm

[318] And in.

Oh, joy ...

330 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:23 pm

[325] Overwhelming platoon advantage against Saltalamalamacchia.

331 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:23 pm

[327] Glad I wasn't the only one who caught that ...

332 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:23 pm

[327] It's a sign he wants my brain to explode. But it's too tired to do anything but mutter discontentedly.

333 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:24 pm

No one has ever referred to bringing in Aaron Laffey as "managing a game like he needs it."

334 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:25 pm

Good job, Aaron.

335 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:26 pm

Laffey gives up a hit, that's shocking. 65 hits in 50 IP.
At least I'm getting chores done this morning..

336 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:26 pm

Wow.

337 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:26 pm

They do that very well.

338 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:26 pm

Hey, Robbie remembered to CATCH that one this time ...

339 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:27 pm

Just end this thing.

340 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:27 pm

My "point" remains - all that involved was hoping for some insanely lucky shit.

But that was some kind of miracle!

341 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:29 pm

Yes, that salt and pepper mullet is a good look.

342 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:29 pm

Alright, I'm ready to praise Jesus, how about you guys???

343 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:29 pm

Please, Jesus, end this.

344 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:29 pm

And speaking of miracles... heeeeeere's Jesus!

345 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:34 pm

There's yer miracle right there!

346 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:37 pm

Unbelievable.
Too fucking stupid. Pathetic. God, that pisses me off.

347 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:39 pm

Man, Romine had a good pass at that last one.

348 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:39 pm

Austin Romine is not going to hit a 97mph fast ball. It just isn't going to happen. It wasn't happening against Papelbon, it isn't happening against Morales.

349 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:39 pm

Strike zone high and wide or is that just Gameday making it look that way?

350 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:44 pm

[349] Looked like a strike. Close enough anyways. But RIYank is right, Romine is not hitting a 97mph heater.

I'm getting hungry now..

351 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:49 pm

What's that annoying "You Suck" chant going on in the background?

352 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:50 pm

Really? He looked out.

353 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:51 pm

Nah, can't tell.

354 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:52 pm

Yeah, he was out. Huh.

355 randym77   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:52 pm

He looked out to me, too. Unless McClellan thinks he was pulled off the bag or something.

Girardi gone.

356 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:52 pm

You fucking hack ass piece of shit.

I'll say it again - in seven years of umping endless softball games, I never missed A SINGLE CALL AT FIRST BASE.

There is no difference in the speed of players or throws or anything like that. You can make that call or you can't (iow, you are not an ump).

If you can't be in the right spot to make that call, if you can't get that call right, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE BUSINESS.

It is INEXCUSABLE.

357 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:52 pm

This is the match-up I wasn't looking forward to!

358 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:54 pm

GODDAMN FUCKING GARBAGE BULLSHIT CALL.

FUCK YOU, MCCLELLAN.

359 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:54 pm

Don Orsillo was very excited by that long fly.

360 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:54 pm

He was out by about 2 feet (hand to bag).

361 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:54 pm

k, i'm back.

the pizza was awesome!

game is on espn radio.

joe's ejected? that's about 4 or 5 innings late. can we go back and pinch hit martin for romine?!

362 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:56 pm

[361] Joe ejected over a bad call at first. That's how Pedroia got on.

363 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:56 pm

i was able to get 880 in the car on the way to the pizza joint (but not on the way back). sterling said that baseball wasn't predictable. he really did. : o

364 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:57 pm

[362] tankoo.

365 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:57 pm

[362] was the little fucker out?

366 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:57 pm

Laffey's pick-off move is pathetic.

367 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:58 pm

[365] He was.

But it's all okay, because Thor's might hammer went limp!

368 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:58 pm

laffey!

hey, he got 5 bigs outs for us. yay!

369 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 10:59 pm

[366] i miss andy.

370 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:00 pm

[369] Yeah. And next month we'll miss him more, I bet.

371 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:00 pm

Curtis and Rob, both, so Tito leaves in Morales. However, Morales is going to suck.

372 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:01 pm

ok, now that i've had dinner, i'm ready for dessert.

pie time!

373 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:02 pm

Friggin pony.

374 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:03 pm

sounds like the little midget fucker did good.

rat-faced bastid.

375 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:04 pm

Fuck, that was Robbie's pitch.

376 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:04 pm

[374] Oh, sorry. Yes, hot shot by Granderson, Pedroia dives to his left into the hole, snags it, throws Curtis out.

377 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:05 pm

Come on, Rob. Focus!!!

378 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:06 pm

[376] yeah, the espn radio guys basically said it was the greatest play evah and that he doesn't care what inning it is, he plays harder than ty cobb and wants it more than pete rose. oh, and that he should be inducted to cooperstown this offseason.

nauseating.

379 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:07 pm

Okay. Acceptable.

380 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:09 pm

Why isn't Jones pinch hitting here?

381 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:10 pm

[380] Or A-Rod. It's a complete mystery.

382 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:10 pm

it's a good thing the yankees and shit sox haven't played a lot of baseball today.

383 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:11 pm

[380] yeah, seriously. this is ridiculous.

we have sooo many good hitters on the bench!

384 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:11 pm

double steal!

c'mon Swishy!!!

385 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:11 pm

Oh, that's why. Because Golson knows how to walk against Morales!

386 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:13 pm

Let's go Swish.

387 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:15 pm

how 'bout a squeeze?!

388 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:15 pm

Time for some serious Grit.

I bet he walks. I bet. Watch this.

389 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:15 pm

[387] With two out??

390 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:16 pm

The NESN crew was convinced he would bunt.

391 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:16 pm

[389] yeah, i know. but brett would beat it out!

392 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:17 pm

how bout bunting with 2 strikes & 2 outs! ; )

393 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:18 pm

Can we PLEASE win this fucking game?

394 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:19 pm

Ooooh.
Thelarmis, ball three to Brett was almost wild -- Salty jumped up to grab it.

395 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:20 pm

FUCK.

This game is going to be way over five hours.

396 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:20 pm

goddamn motherfucker. : /

397 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:21 pm

Swish and Gardy. You guys fail.

398 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:22 pm

Hey, look. It's Aaron Laffey.

399 RIYank   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:23 pm

Why is McDonald going to bat for Drew???

400 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:23 pm

More Aaron Laughie? Tee Hee.

401 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:25 pm

Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me. Having dodged the two of six roulette bullets of Laffey, you opt for the three bullets of Proctor???

Are you fucking serious?

Ayala is Ayala but Proctor is about to give up a MAMMOTH home run.

FUCK!

And not pinch hitting Jones - arghhhhh.

402 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:25 pm

My rant on f'ing Proctor is awaiting moderation. He is going to serve up a dinger. Because he sucks.

403 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:26 pm

oh no, proctor???

game ovah.

404 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:27 pm

oh look at that, proctor gives up a hit. i'm shocked!

oh, and it's ty fucking scutaro.

game ovah.

406 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:31 pm

fuck you, proctor.

407 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:32 pm

tell me again why scott fucking proctor is on my fucking team and pitching against the fucking shit sox in september.

408 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:34 pm

Unfuckingbelievable. I told you it would be MAMMOTH.

If those motherfuckers do something, they're going to point to this bullshit - and fucking Scott Proctor

409 randym77   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:34 pm

Why did we resurrect Everyday Scott Proctor again?

410 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:34 pm

wow.

i fucking hate you, scott proctor.

you fucking SUCK at pitching. you suck. and i hate you.

get the fuck off my team. just retire...

411 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:34 pm

Well is appears that Proctor is the surrender pitcher. I guess somebody has to be...

What a waste of time.

412 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:35 pm

[401 No points for predicting that one.
Well done Joe G, give away the game to Boston after all these innings.

413 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:35 pm

FUCKING SCOTT PROCTOR!!!!

How fucking predictable was that?

Why?

Why????????!!!!!!!

Anyone but that fucking warmed over corpse. Holy fucking shit you found him at a G-d damn cemetery, what the fuck did you think was going to happen???

Why the fuck did we watch this fucking piece of shit???

Fuck you Scott Proctor (new website name)

414 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:37 pm

[412] Not even credit for predicting it would be *mammoth*?

No, I suppose that was like predicting my ass is going to be chapped when we lose this game.

What fucking horseshittery.

Joe Maddon should fly to New York, punch everyone involved in that decision to let warmed over death pitch there, and then fly back for the games. Bull fucking shit.

415 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:37 pm

I started watching this game to kill time until the Steelers game. They eked out a W and this one drags on. Holy smokes!

416 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:38 pm

I feel like was just examined by the Protor(ologist). Fuggin stink finger.

417 Just Fair   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:38 pm

Fucking snozzberry again. Fuck him. Bollocks!

418 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:38 pm

I am so fucking angry, it's ridiculous. And whose fucking bright idea was it to pick up that bag of horse shit?

He's fucking DONE. He was fucking DONE when he left here. He's still fucking DONE.

419 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:38 pm

- infinite internets for proctologist.

420 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:39 pm

Just inexplicable. Playing to win the whole damn game, THEN bring in Scott Proctor? TOTALLY predictable that he would give up runs. Why don't the beat guys ever question JoeyJoeJoe about his odd moves?

421 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:39 pm

shit sox get to beat up on the boids and make the playoffs. i really really really wanted to keep them out of the postseason...

422 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:40 pm

I'm disconsolate. Why the fuck couldn't someone have warned me that this wasn't just going to be horse shitting around without certain guys even having a prayer of coming in, but that five hours later this bullshit was what was in the cards? Why?

423 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:40 pm

[420] i think we stopped playing to win, when romine was allowed to bat with the bases loaded.

424 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:41 pm

oh, and not having anyone to warm up when nova was clearly running out of gas and getting hit hard.

425 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:42 pm

This is unfucking fathomable. Why would you ever pitch that fucking piece of shit? Why?

426 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:44 pm

fuck you, gi joe.

fuck you, proctor.

fuck you, shit sox.

427 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:45 pm

The amount of bullshit that is going to come out of that part of the country is going to be insufferable x infinity.

And you pitched Scott Fucking Proctor instead of say - Hector Noesi - who is actually FUCKING GOOD. Why? I can't stop saying WHY?

428 thelarmis   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:46 pm

[427] yeah, noesi. good call! that's *exactly* who shoulda been in there.

total fucking bollocks.

well, go Oreos!!!

429 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:48 pm

[428] He's even a multiple innings type of pitcher!

What unfathomable bunch of fucking ridiculousness could ever spit out Scott Proctor as the answer to anything other than "how to perform a self-administered shotgun castration"????

430 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:48 pm

This loss now feels big, when it did not matter 2 hours ago. Allowing the possible resurrection of the Red Sox in the playoffs might be the stuff of nightmares.

431 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:51 pm

[430] And in choose your own adventure - let's flip to the Scott Proctor page was actually the brain trust's decision. That page be full of monsters, ye fucking retards.

432 randym77   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:52 pm

I wish we'd kept Lance Pendleton instead of Scotty.

Pendleton was called up when rosters expanded, but didn't get to play a single game. He was DFA'd a few days later, and Houston claimed him off waivers.

I don't get it. Houston took Pendleton via Rule 5 last December. They couldn't keep him on the roster, but were willing to trade for him. The Yanks refused, and Houston returned him. Now they have him for free. And we have the ghost of Everyday Scott Proctor.

433 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:52 pm

Fucking Scott Proctor.

There's NO excuse.

Between that and the mis-cue with Nova in the 7th and the various bullshit non-decisions on the pinch-hitting front, this one's on JoeyJoeJoe.

Complete horseshit.

434 jjmerlock   ~  Sep 25, 2011 11:54 pm

Shite - post [431] is actually reasonably good, but it's awaiting moderation : (

435 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 26, 2011 1:57 am

[420] Ah, didn't look like he was playing to win IMHO. In fact, it looked like he was playing to lose. Using Ramiro "Should Not Be In The Majors" Pena to pinch run and then leaving him in the game for 2 mutherfarging ABs with A-Rod collecting splintersm. WTF, Joe!
