Mmmmm, Cash.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:07 pm

Let's GO!

3 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:07 pm

I can't see Garcia pitching as well as he did in Game 2, can you?

4 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:08 pm

Nope. All he needs is to be just good enough.

5 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:09 pm

Ah, the first inning bunt attempts.
[1] Cash is nice but give me Willie Nelson!

6 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:12 pm

Boy, that was an ugly AB, Michael.

7 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:15 pm

[6] Professional Hitter™

8 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:16 pm

Some major onions by Garcia getting these two strike outs.

9 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:17 pm

Great job by Garcia there.

10 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:19 pm

[5] I'll take both. Enough room on the iPod for them.

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:24 pm

Sutcliffe: "That's what the Cardinals needed because if it was a double or triple then the Rangers would walk Pujols". Yes of course, a single is much better than an XBH and IBB... you fucking idiot!! We need FJM guys to come back desperately.

12 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:26 pm

Berkman sends it to Blue Hawaii! 2-1 Boids!

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:35 pm

Evening, Team.
It's such a different experience to watch high-stakes baseball when you have no dog in the fight, isn't it? I still feel the tension but without all the churning and rage and anxiety.

Kind of like a vacation or something.

14 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:36 pm

13) So well put.

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:40 pm

Thanks.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:40 pm

Jesus, they are so *blonde* in the midwest!

17 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:40 pm

tied up

18 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:41 pm

[16] Tee-hee! I was thinking that in Texas actually. Blonde and..er.."zaftig".

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:41 pm

Not looking too good for St. Louis, is it?

20 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 8:52 pm

A good discussion over at IIAATMS.
"Cano’s agent, Scott Boras, attempted to contact general manager Brian Cashman about redoing Cano’s deal and has been met with silence."

21 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:04 pm

[20] Yeesh, at least talk. Though does Cashman's contract have to be done first? Wouldn't mind locking Robbie up through age 33 or so.

22 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:05 pm

Missed it by that much.

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:05 pm

Wait, what???

Jeter has 20 postseason homeruns?

That can't be right, can it?

24 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:11 pm

Oh my a Holliday in Cambodia there.

25 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:13 pm

Costly error.

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:14 pm

That was great hitting.

I wish our guys knew how to wait on balls like that.

That was gorgeous.

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:17 pm

Man, poor St. Louis.
And now, poor fucking Napoli.
I don't know what happened but god, he's writhing.

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:17 pm

Owwww, that ankle! Fuck!

29 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:20 pm

[28] That replay was painful to watch. Can't believe they're leaving him in, how can he run the bases?

30 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:22 pm

[21] Boras will want 8/$160m. The Yanks have Cano for $14m and $15m over the next 2 years. I would stay pat and buy him in 2014.

31 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:39 pm

[30] But Boras might shop him around for an extra couple of millions per year and annoy Robbie. I'd rather spend the money in pen. Maybe reassure Robbie about rings and HoF. He's going to make his bucks. Again, just talk.

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:42 pm

Omg, it's a fucking clown circus!

33 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:42 pm

WTF?

34 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:45 pm

I'm reminded of the old chipmunk cartoon Chip and Dale, who were exceedingly polite: you go first, oh no you must . . .

35 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:54 pm

Earth to Wash. Your boy Lewis had better put up a zero now, because that was a horrible non-move.

36 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:55 pm

30) Jeez, bro, there's a Whirled Serious going on, man.

37 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 9:56 pm

[35] Baffling. These managers are just..really head-scratching.

38 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:03 pm

Do you let Lewis go back out there in the 6th to face the heart of the order?

39 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:11 pm

Ooof, the 0-2 close to Albert.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:11 pm

Can you say make-up call?

41 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:17 pm

Tough AB for Holliday here. Colby better not make a mistake...

42 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:19 pm

Jay-zus..freaking Little League action here.

43 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:19 pm

Wow, this is one fugly game.

44 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:20 pm

Jeebus, can this get any crazier?

45 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:20 pm

What did McCarver just say? "The ball wasn't hit hard enough for him to think about going to 2nd." Really?

46 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:21 pm

Both teams are playing too tight tonight.

47 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:21 pm

Record for most errors in a WS?

48 Jon DeRosa   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:22 pm

I usually prefer a crisp game, but the mutual ineptitude is pretty exciting.

49 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:22 pm

[45] Boat! You got FOX? I got Sutcliffe/ESPN on NHK BS1 here.

50 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:27 pm

[49] I'm at the orafice. Watching on my Mac. If you buy the MLB premium package now you get ALL the games (if you live outside US/Canada).

51 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:27 pm

Why is Washington wearing gloves? It can't be that cold.

52 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:30 pm

[50 At some point you got to stop putting Ogando out there..what a crazy game though. I'm parked on the couch!

53 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:30 pm

Nobody wants to win.

54 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:32 pm

Hoiliday is an excellent player, but has bad instincts.

55 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:32 pm

[51] Gonna hit freezing in Toledo tonight. Garden is finished. Midwest is that cold.

56 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:33 pm

5 Errors, 3 Un-Earned runs.

57 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:33 pm

Is this the same Napoli that Scoscia platooned?

58 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:33 pm

What an ugly game.

59 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:34 pm

[55] Got a dusting of wet Snow up here in NH...

60 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:34 pm

[51] It's cold, and Wash doesn't have much meat on those bones (wonder why?).
Here in NY it's in the 30's

Who wants to win the World Series? Amazing how for even the most professional, the fundamentals get fudged under the pressure. I've never seen it this bad.

61 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:37 pm

[60] Chase Utley... All-Star Game?

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:37 pm

I know I'm a homer, but the Yankees would have taken care of business against Texas and then the Cards. I hate that short first PS series.

63 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:37 pm

I know I'm a homer, but the Yankees would have taken care of business against Texas and then the Cards. I hate that short first PS series.

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:38 pm

Yippie! Bingo! A doubler!

65 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:40 pm

[63] That's what George used to say.

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:41 pm

[60] Yeah, but it's contagious in this game and series.

67 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:43 pm

[55] Holy Toledo! It's 63 in Tokyo. Highs are supposed to be around 70 all week. I'm lovin' it.

68 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:43 pm

Heck, Nolan has a coat on.

69 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:45 pm

[67} Radiation?

70 Simone   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:46 pm

I'll take the Rangers winning over the Cardinals. LaRussa and his so-called genius annoys me. If the Cardinals lose maybe Pujols will end up on another team, even the Yankees.

71 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:48 pm

Why did Beltre suck so bad in Seattle? Why does everyone suck in Seattle (except Ichiro)?

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:50 pm

[71] Must be the rain and the Heroin.

73 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:51 pm

[70] As DH? Or Mark as DH? Jesus is cheaper.
Um, did I just sin there?

74 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:53 pm

[69] Global Warming

75 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:56 pm

[72] Latter is a great song by Lou Reed.

76 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 10:57 pm

That was a stupid throw to home...major league baseball mind? Couldn't Jay see that Holland was halfway to home before the ball left his hand?

77 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:01 pm

"The oceans white with foam." That line always tears me up.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:04 pm

[75] One of the best songs ever, and the Velvet's also did "Waiting for the Man" on that theme.

79 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:10 pm

[77][78] Ahh, Lou Reed. 35+ years of unlistenable albums. I admire his consistency!

80 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:15 pm

[75, 78] Lou also did a song called "The Heroine" on what might be his best post-Velvets album, "The Blue Mask."

81 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:16 pm

This has been one of the strangest World Series games ever. I wonder if it's just going to end quietly or there's more weirdness on tap.

82 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:18 pm

OldPoll:
Albert's next contract will be for:
Given to him by the:

Cubs: 6/$160

83 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:23 pm

[78] I spent years with a combo of Mary Jane and booze and other substances to that song. Glad I got out of that alive. With the ability to enjoy a beer.

Does no one recognize Emma's warning that Molinas are dangerous this time of year?

84 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:23 pm

[82] Interesting. But can he handle Chicago? That town chews up stars like ground chuck.

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:24 pm

[82] I agree with the Cubs, but it will be 7years/$200M

86 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:30 pm

Albert wants a more than A-Rod contract.

Yeesh not a great game.

87 rbj   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:33 pm

Motte? Did they get the name right?

88 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:34 pm

[81] I was at game 4, 1993 WS that Toronto won 15-14 over the Phillies in Philadelphia. That was the craziest game, and the crowd was run through a wringer. Even Philly fans were too spent to be angry or mean. 8 lead changes, the Blue Jays score 6 runs in the eighth to take a a one run lead that held up. Mitch Williams gave it up to take the loss.

89 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:43 pm

home in time to watch the yankees bring home #28.

oh, wait... : (

good for tejas though. sorry, cult!

90 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:44 pm

91 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:45 pm

92 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:46 pm

93 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:46 pm

So glad this all has nothing to do with me.

94 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:47 pm

[91] yeah, i like big puma. i saw him hit his homer early in the game, during a break at work.

95 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:47 pm

[93] i hear ya, but i wish it had *everything* to do with all of us. plus, if it were us in this situation, Mo wouldn't be throwing 6 balls in a row!

96 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:48 pm

I know, right?

97 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:50 pm

98 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:50 pm

99 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:50 pm

Wow. That was right down the middle.

100 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:51 pm

Time for Chinese. Lemme know what happens.

116 thelarmis   ~  Oct 27, 2011 11:57 pm

127 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:03 am

We can never take Mo for granted. For that matter the Cards and Texas are sorely lacking a SoRoMo combination.

146 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:16 am

[140] ???!! Really? I cannot imagine those guys working together at all..

Hey Banter, random Q but there's a lot of talk on Twitter about this game being "better than tv show Whitney". Does Whitney Houston have a reality show now? Do they show her smoking rock?

147 Just Fair   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:18 am

No fucking way they are pitching to Fat Albert.

148 Boatzilla   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:20 am

158 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:24 am

This has turned into an AMAZING game.

159 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:25 am

Yippie! Fat Elvis comes through, "It's Now or Never".

160 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:26 am

Can nobody here play this game?

161 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:26 am

So I guess no one around these parts buys Washington's story about only doing blow for the first time when he got caught, huh. Hehe.

As my friend Pete said on Twitter in re: Hamilton "It's like THE NATURAL...but with crack!"

162 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:26 am

kb - i used to play in an elvis band. it's now or never, was a fun "rock rhumba"!

kentucky rain!

163 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:27 am

Who's left in the BPs? Nick Swisher?

164 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:28 am

hey guys - i'm headed to "home-home" tomorrow. is it getting pretty cold in nyc at night? i'm going to a jazz show in the 'shitty' tomorrow nite...

165 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:28 am

[159] Nice!
Don't buy it for a second. Not judging him, TLR drunk driving a much worse offense in my book though.

166 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:28 am

[160] Elvis' 70s band had some killer players - James Burton, Ronnie Tutt, Jerry Scheff...

167 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:28 am

jake westbrook, former yankee great!

168 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:29 am

h/t RAB:
"Via George King, the Yankees have a contract offer prepared for CC Sabathia and plan to delivery it to their ace shortly. No word on the terms of the contract, but you can be sure it’s substantial. My guess: five-years and $125M with an option."

169 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:30 am

[159] Well the Cowboys are "America's Team". The Rangers can be "South America's Team".

170 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:30 am

matt - yeah, those later elvis bands were pretty smokin'. the group i played in did 2 very large elvis-only shows a year - birthday & death day. huge band, huge crowd, huge fun!

i might even see if i can rejoin sometime soon...

171 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:31 am

OYF - is this game not exciting enough for you???

kb - hilarious on the "south america's team"!

172 Matt Blankman   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:31 am

[168] My beef was that all those backing vocalists drowned out Jimmy Burton!

173 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:34 am

OldPoll:
True or False?
Fat Elvis has a better career OPS+ then ARod...

174 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:34 am

don't like pulling the pitcher there. german wasn't gonna do jack and now...who the fuck's gonna pitch???

175 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:35 am

Big mistake pinch hitting for Feldman. Cards will win it here.

176 OldYanksFan   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:35 am

[169] What???? You don't think I can multi-task???

177 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:38 am

well...someone is gonna have to get to double digits!

178 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:38 am

[162] Cold yes. They're talking snow possible on Saturday.

179 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:39 am

kb - i agree about the mistake pulling the pitcher.

oyf - you can multitask on a big set of old ludwigs!

180 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:39 am

181 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:40 am

183 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:44 am

Freese Spicolli!

184 Bronx Boy in NC   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:49 am

A lot of professional-looking signs in the stands tonight. All on identically sized pieces of corrugated presentation board. Is Fox dressing the set?

Man I hate baseball on Fox and TBS.

185 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:51 am

Ohhh, I like this guy (Berkman).
"What was going through your mind?"
"Nothing. You just try to think about nothing and see the ball."

186 thelarmis   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:52 am

i saw one sign that appeared to be sponsored by rawlings.

187 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:55 am

[183] Not his finest moments here in NY. He's obviously in a lot better shape now than as a Yankee. Must be the good food here.

188 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 12:59 am

Texas was winning 5 different times in this game.

Bullpen anyone?

189 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 28, 2011 1:02 am

Thank his Mo-ness...an actual game 7 tomorrow. Maybe a few more people will watch.

Good night.
