And Bernie stays on the ballot. I don't get the push for Jack Morris.

[1] Agreed. I'm not sure what the fascination with Jack Morris is. Yeah, I know he was a big star for a few years in the 80s, but so was Alan Trammell (who was better) and where's his surge?

I feel bad that Bernie only got 10%, but it's not as if there are votes for "Really close," or "Not sure." If you think Bernie is just shy of the HOF, you vote "no."

Raines' support is growing each year, which is a good sign. Why Lee Smith has so much support, I have no idea.

Hard to figure with Tram. But I don't have much faith in the voters as a whole. Some guys are studious and really considered; other guys just seem to toss their votes off, like the putz who didn't vote for anybody but Mattingly. I like to debate about the Hall but ultimately I think it's a superficial institution.

[3] Agreed fully...that said, I still feel good when deserving guys get the recognition. Also, you know, it's the Hall of FAME, so how vague is that to begin with? It's not the Hall of Achievement or Hall of Incredible Statistics.

Yeah, so it can't be legit with Pete Rose or Barry Bonds.

Larkin is very deserving. So well rounded, speed, power, hitting, defense. The only strike against him were the injuries. If Larkin had played in a major market, he would have gone in first ballot.

My brother has the idea that they should change the process so that every year the guy with most votes gets in. No threshold, no nothing. Most vets gets in, move to next year. I think it is a decent solution.

larkin = deserving.

lee smith and jack morris - i don't get the push, either.

bernie - i was hoping for 20%...

raines - it's no secret i think it's criminal he's not already in. he's the guy i get worked up about. i'm glad his percentage grew, but he needs to switch spots with morris. actually, he should switch spots with jim rice!
