"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

The Yanks have won the first two games against the Rangers but their work is not done–they lose the next two and the series will feel like a missed opportunity. Fab Five Freddy “Chuck n Duck” Garcia is on the hill.

Rain is in the forecast.

Never mind those thunderclaps: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Great, now all I can think about is Barbara Hershey

Felix Hernandez is perfect through 8. He's out for the ninth now. Mariners vs. Tampa

[2] Hot damn. Just turned it on. Go King!

4 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 4:59 pm

One down.

5 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:01 pm

Two down.

6 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:02 pm

2-0 Slider. Ballsy.

7 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:02 pm

C'mon blue, strike zone expands in this situation.

8 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:03 pm

Strike three!

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:04 pm

WOW. Congrats to The King. I only saw him throw to 3 batters but he made quick mince meat of them throwing complete and utter filthy pitches.

10 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 5:23 pm

Man, looks like there were only 6 baserunners in the game.

11 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 15, 2012 6:04 pm

Holy Felix!

12 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 6:16 pm

Long live the King! That cat has a bag of tricks.

Can we dream, will he ever wear pinstripes?

13 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 6:20 pm

Nice to start the evening knowing the Rays lost. Now if Boston can save some face and win a game against the O's, that would be even better.

14 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 6:35 pm

Rain rain go away.
(actually, come here to the midwest, we could use you.)

I love watching King Felix, just a true master. Dead heat between the King and Verlander for "best pitcher in the game" title?

From ESPN:
"All-Star Game MVP Melky Cabrera was suspended for 50 games without pay Wednesday after the San Francisco Giants outfielder tested positive for testosterone."

17 rbj   ~  Aug 15, 2012 7:29 pm

[16] saw that earlier. Disappointing. Going to be tough for him to get a decent contract. I'd only give a one year deal, want to see how good he can be clean.

18 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:13 pm

Decent start for Freddy.

19 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:13 pm

17) We had a thread on Melky earlier...just FYI.

20 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:21 pm

Good at bat by Russell in the 2nd, works the count full, gets a decent pitch and pops it up. Tough season.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:37 pm

Go Go Nix!

22 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:51 pm

Chivas for all!

23 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:51 pm

That was a little closer than I thought it would be.

24 randym77   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:58 pm

Him again.

25 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 8:58 pm

Something about Josh Hamilton just reminds me so much of Jimmy Swaggart

26 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:00 pm

Oh crap, its Ball Four Murphy

27 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:05 pm

I'll take it.

28 Chyll Will   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:11 pm

[12] I wondered about that. Someone would have to swallow their pride in that he hit three of our guys (knocking Alex onto the DL just as he was heating up). They've done so in the past to accommodate former enemies, but there was a line somewhere (traded for Roger, passed on Pedro), I dunno. His price is gonna be way up there too, so unless they make a clever trade and extend him astutely, I don't see it happening; at least until after he's past his prime and we don't want him anymore.

[17] Think we've already seen the best of him clean. Don't get your hopes up.

29 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:19 pm

Christ the Red Sox suck.

30 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:45 pm

I really don't care for Josh Hamilton

31 randym77   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:45 pm

I guess Josh Hamilton is back.

32 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:46 pm

Funny reaction by Freddy to that monumental shot by Hamilton.

33 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:51 pm

It's hard not to admire Hamilton's HRs.
It doesn't even seem like he swings hard.

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 9:54 pm

No bunt. No stolen base attempt. 5-4-3. Rats!

35 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:02 pm

[34] I'm actually stunned to see that Ichiro has attempted five stolen bases. I would have guessed one.

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:33 pm

Sit down, Ian! Chump!

37 randym77   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:33 pm

Yer out. Siddown.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:43 pm

Lame. FUCKING LAME.

39 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:44 pm

Good thing we had a man hitting .320 bunt.

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:49 pm

Ridiculous and frustrating. Getting through the ninth untucked is a lot to ask of Soriano.

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:51 pm

There's one.

42 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:52 pm

Yikes! There's two.

43 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:52 pm

Cripes that looked bad off the bat

44 randym77   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:53 pm

Damn.

45 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:53 pm

Uh-oh.

Was Swisher always this spazzy at first?

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:54 pm

Close. Shit call per usual.

47 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:55 pm

Yes. Untuck!

48 Mattpat11   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:56 pm

Okay, no harm no foul.

I'll be at the sweep tomorrow.

49 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:57 pm

It was a shit call in slow motion, but in real time looked like the right call.

Big win! So ain't Mo, but he's as good as anyone else.

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Aug 15, 2012 10:59 pm

Big Bad Texas must be flipping out in the clubhouse. Yankees playing with house money tomorrow.

51 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 15, 2012 11:04 pm

I hit up the anagram maker for Soriano Untucked. There were over 6,000 that popped up. I only read the first page but this is the one I liked. Orca Ink Unto Us

[53] That last one would have been a good nickname for Colter Bean...

55 randym77   ~  Aug 16, 2012 5:07 am

[54] Holy cow. I haven't thought about Colter Bean in ages. Wonder what he's doing now? Last I heard, he was playing in Mexico, but that was years ago.
