Don’t Get Mad, Get Even

Concerns and complaints from the Yankees after the game last night. Chad Jennings has the notes.

In the meantime, the Bombers turn to an unlikely source to stop stop the bleeding: Freddy Garcia.

He’ll need plenty of support, from his fielders, the bullpen, and especially the offense.

Never mind that hangover: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Going to Camden Yards today.. Freddy needs our strong support

2 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 11:36 am

If they fall out of first, I don't think they come back.

Just win.

3 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 9, 2012 11:43 am

Sending Freddy, Curtis and Swish a lot of positive energy. Stay with it, team!

4 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:33 pm

Fucked! From Lohud:
Mark Teixeira is going for an MRI tomorrow. Joe Girardi doesn’t expect Teixeira to be available for the upcoming Boston series, and Girardi admitted that he’s wondered whether Teixeira will play again this season.

Whooo, boy, I sure am glad I stopped watching yesterday's game LOOOOOONG before the blown call in the 9th.

That just might have caused a stroke if I was watching it live.

In any case, I'm here with a prediction: the Yankees are going to make the playoffs ... and good ol' CentWAR will be the reason.

Yup, that's right, Alex's going to go Ape-Shit for the next month and take this team with him.

6 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:38 pm

[4] That's alot of Steve Pearce

7 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:41 pm

Five from Willie

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:43 pm

Cornflake busts out ... right here!!!

9 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:46 pm

[8] There were a few balls in that walk that he was swinging at in Tampa. That's a good sign.

10 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:47 pm

Well, bleh, that's not a great start to my prediction.

11 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:48 pm

Man... ARod appears to be running underwater.

12 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:49 pm

Robbie!

13 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:49 pm

YES! Robbie hits it where it's pitched. Great AB.

14 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:49 pm

A swarm of locusts just flew by my window.

15 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:53 pm

Well, 1 goal is ... something.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 12:57 pm

Uh, Fat Freddy? You might want to stop hanging the slop ... just saying.

17 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:04 pm

How I despise our righty "lefty mashers"

18 joe   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:12 pm

I love the way that older woman got in Arods face with that popup she beat him on

19 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:15 pm

[17] Why do you say this? They are not mashers. They are scrapheap pickups whose sole remaining skill is hitting opposite hand pitchers decently. 'Mashers' are starters. There's a reason a HOF player is making all of $1m.

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:16 pm

Man, Jeter is not far from hopping down the first base line on one leg.

21 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:20 pm

[19]They play every time we face a lefty, regardless of whether or not said lefty pitcher has any success against lefty batters.

I can only presume they must be lefty mashers.

Add Casey McGehee to that list too. He;s just wretched.

22 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:24 pm

[21] McGehee isn't bad against lefties. .766 OPS this year. Not a 'masher' but he's done fine.

23 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:32 pm

Uh-oh. Everybody close their eyes. Bases loaded, no outs.

24 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:33 pm

They're loaded up for Steve Pearce!

25 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:33 pm

[22] He's been horrific for us.

26 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:34 pm

Any possibility of a quadruple play?

27 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:34 pm

Okay, lets focus on the good though. Bases loaded, no out for my new hero Steve Pearce

28 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:35 pm

We accept the gift.

Now let's see if we can earn a couple, huh?

29 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:36 pm

Okay, I'll take it.

Now, Andruw, hit one of those homer things you used to do. -

Holy mother, Andruw.

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:37 pm

Take a fucking picture, Jones. It'll last longer.

33 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:37 pm

Seriously. I know he's left handed. I really do. But could Chris Dickerson POSSIBLY be worse?

34 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:38 pm

As they used to say - Nix's the one

35 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:38 pm

Nice.
Half gift, half earned. Acceptable.

36 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:38 pm

[33] Huh?

37 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:39 pm

Oh, I get it, [36] [33] never mind.
Yeah, I mean, no, there's no way he could be worse. Andruw Jones is done now.

38 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:39 pm

[33] Than Andruw Jones? Could Chris Dickerson possible be worse than Andruw Jones?

39 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:40 pm

Yes! CHOPPED!

40 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:40 pm

NOW a safe call?!?!?

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:40 pm

Typical Yankees big inning. : )
Hey, Buck! GFY.

42 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:41 pm

That was Ichiro's most ironic hit of the year: a Baltimore chop rbi against the Orioles!

43 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:41 pm

[37] And I really, really like Andruw Jones. But its not fucking working by any stretch.

44 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:42 pm

I kinda wish Ichiro was called out just to see Girardi run out there and go complete ape shit.

45 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:43 pm

[44] I sort of have a feeling that after last night and what Winters said afterwards, Ichiro would have to be out by 50 feet to get called.

46 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:45 pm

Wow.

Okay, a Jeter rbi the easy way. Man, Jetes did not want to walk, either.

47 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:45 pm

I happen to like these barely small-ball Bombers

48 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:46 pm

(47) I mean - bombers

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:48 pm

Now is the time Mr. Swisher. Pretty fucking please with sugar on top.

51 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:49 pm

Crap.

That pitch should have gone 400 feet.

52 rbj   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:50 pm

Oh yay, runs.

53 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:50 pm

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:52 pm

Who would have thought that a 4 run inning could be so uninspiring?

57 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:52 pm

Ball. Fucking. Saxbury.

58 bags   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:54 pm

sheesh. i just logged in. read the comments. assumed we were losing. checked the score. we're up 4-0. why are we unhappy?

59 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:55 pm

[58] It was a disappointing four-run inning, believe it or not.

Mainly because the four came across on two BB and two pretty cheap singles. A double at some point would have been very satisfying.

60 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:56 pm

Alright Fat Freddy, now's the time for your filth flinging finessing!

61 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:56 pm

The GOOD news is we have a 5 runs lead.
The BAD news is it seems we have an even chance of losing a game after having a 5 runs lead.

And now it begins.

62 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:58 pm

Oh christ, here we go

63 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:58 pm

And now it continues.

64 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:58 pm

O fuck - Joba

65 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:58 pm

Oh God almighty no Joba

66 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:58 pm

68 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 1:59 pm

Maybe it's a good thing I'm about to leave to go have lunch ...

69 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:00 pm

Remember when Betemit was probably the worst player in baseball for the Yankees?

70 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:00 pm

(68). I'm about to lose mine

71 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:00 pm

And now it festers and boils.

72 rbj   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:00 pm

I do not care for these pesky Orioles.

73 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:00 pm

10 game lead - 5 run lead. A bad pattern

74 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:02 pm

Bud, please change the rule to 2 strikes and you're out

75 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:03 pm

76 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:05 pm

Unfuckingbelievable.

No sir, I don't like them at all.

78 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:05 pm

And now it turns into a fireball.

79 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:05 pm

Pathetic.

Fucking pathetic.

80 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:07 pm

I haven't missed Nova so much since last year's break-the-fast

81 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:08 pm

How many pitches before it's tied?

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:08 pm

Uh, why is Fat Bastard pitching in a game we need to win???

83 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:09 pm

You know, for all the talk about how this might be Freddy's last start, Phelps has been unusable lately too. We're in big, big trouble

84 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:10 pm

[82] We need him to "work through it"

He's a generic right handed middle reliever, but for some reason he's apparently very important to this team.

85 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:12 pm

Let's review here - 5-0, bases loaded, one out. Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2012 story line.

86 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:13 pm

Oh.
Huh.
Baseball is puzzling.
It's hard to predict.

87 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:13 pm

He's baaaaaaaack!!!! And as bad as ever. For 2 batters, at least

88 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:15 pm

Bet anyone any amount that Sterling said for the jillionth time - "oh, what a funny and unpredictable game"

89 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:22 pm

And yet it feels so UNfunny and Predictable.

90 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:25 pm

I'm assuming the strategy is just to keep pitching Joba until he inevitably falters.

91 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:25 pm

Got a feeling that the score truck is closed for the day

92 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:28 pm

93 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:31 pm

94 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:32 pm

In other news, I'm on a real Fleetwood Mac kick today. My God Fleetwood Mac and Rumours were great albums.

95 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:32 pm

We love Joba.

96 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:33 pm

Who the hell is that wearing no. 62? It might be the same guy who played Paul after he died in the late 60s.

97 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 2:35 pm

Wow!
What an unpredictable stretch of baseball.

132 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 9, 2012 3:29 pm

I think its pretty amazing that Derek Jeter at 38 might win the batting title for the first time.

133 RIYank   ~  Sep 9, 2012 3:30 pm

[132]It is.
Also, am I correct that Melky is going to win the NL batting title?

134 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 9, 2012 3:30 pm

After this game, we have 3 against TB, 3 against Oakland, and 13 against bottom feeders (Boston (3), Toronto (7), Minn(3).

Meanwhile, TB and the Boids have 6 head-2-head games.

I said we need to play .500 against TB and the O's to be in decent position (although playing ,500 in a 3 game series against TB is tough).

In any event, the schedule favors us nicely.

135 mhoward120   ~  Sep 9, 2012 3:31 pm

Ok, so what's the Yankees 0-fer record?

136 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 9, 2012 3:33 pm
