[2] Good stuff.

In related news, I read Margaret Ruth Groening's obituary in the Oregonian today. That's Matt's mom. Her maiden name was Wiggum and she attended the liberal arts school in Oregon where I was on the faculty for a time. She married Homer and had kids whose names included Lisa and Maggie.

I used to live near Flanders and Lovejoy streets, and ride my bike on (Side Show Bob) Terwilliger Boulevard. One time I rode up into the West Hills to find 742 Evergreen Terrace and, though the houses had all been re-numbered, had a kind neighbor point to the house. Every time I see the intro to the show, I think of that view of Nob Hill that's in the background when Bart goes by on his skateboard. It's the same view I used to see from the street outside my apartment.

I never knew how much the show was filled with Matt's experiences growing up until I moved to Portland. It's really fun to have this little perspective on the show. I love it.
