I love how whenever a landmark is taken down for "luxury condos" a reason is that "1000 union jobs will be created". Yeah, the developer used his pencil, and figured that his lion share is worth every penny for construction. And how long will these union jobs last? A year?

Without creative activities NYC would not command the property values seen by the developers. It all can't be luxury condos, office towers, and high end retail. Eventually we'll be living in a theme park for the rich (some say already there). Is there any shred of authenticity left?
