TJ for Nova on Tuesday. Good news is Dr. James Andrews is doing it.

2 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 5:00 pm

[1] Serious Q: is Dr. Andrews the only surgeon in the country who does TJ surgery? You never hear any other names.

Let's Go Cee-Cee!

3 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 5:19 pm

[2] IIRC, the Mets pitcher currently out had someone else do it.

But no skimping for the Yankees.

4 randym77   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:16 pm

Dr. Tim Kremchek also does TJ surgery.

Posada went to him for a second opinion, though that was for his shoulder, not his elbow.

5 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:17 pm

Happy birthday Carlos.

6 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:19 pm

Sori! And Carlos has a gift RS.

7 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:19 pm

And happy birthday Alfonso!

8 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:22 pm

I'd go for an early unravel.
Go to it, Brian.

9 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:29 pm

I don't mind plunking Ortiz.

10 coleman42   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:31 pm

It's about time

11 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:36 pm

cc plunked ortiz? Definitely intentional?

12 Bama Yankee   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:37 pm

CC showing them what happens when you take away our pine tar... ;-)

13 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:39 pm

Awesome! That dumb rule helps us!

14 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:39 pm

Ah, the new transfer rule. I hate it.

15 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:39 pm

Correct call. (Given the dumb rule.)

16 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:39 pm

[11] No. 0-2 count.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:40 pm

Indeed. This "rule" is fucking bullshit.

18 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:41 pm

[11]

Nowadays when, at least among us immoralists, the suspicion arises that the decisive value of an action lies precisely in that which is not intentional, and that all its intentionalness, all that is seen, sensible, or "sensed" in it, belongs to its surface or skin—which, like every skin, betrays something, but conceals still more?

19 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:41 pm

[16] ah i see.

and yes, that transfer rule is stupid.

20 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:41 pm

[18] now that's a deeper perspective.

21 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:42 pm

Excellent. I was just thinking, "Hm, I might have Young Jervis bunt." No need! Free advance.

22 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:43 pm

[20] Thanks. I can't exactly take full credit for it... (See the title of this game thread.)

23 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:44 pm

This is a very good at bat.
Now turn it into gold, Young Jervis!

And he does!!!!!

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:44 pm

I like this kid. : )

25 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:45 pm

More gift runs! Everyone's birthday today.

26 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:45 pm

solarte!

27 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:49 pm

Oh, man.
Yeah, I think Solarte was right to stay. But bad break.

28 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:49 pm

about the only way you can get a hit and not drive in the runner from third

29 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:49 pm

well hot damn. Wish we could have gotten a run there but wasn't happening on that.

30 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:49 pm

"Solahtay had to hold becuz the ball didn't go that fahhhh."
(Watching NESN.)

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:51 pm

What's the ruling? Foul ball, or what???

32 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:52 pm

Uh.

What the hell? Does the YES crew have anything to say?

Oh, it hit Beltran??

33 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:52 pm

Hm. Which would you take, the HBP or the WP? I think Girardi is right. I will investigate!

34 randym77   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:53 pm

Ball didn't hit him. Got it wrong, blue.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:55 pm

The time this is taking is preposterous.

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:56 pm

Wow, the NESN crew is just completely confused. They're making me dizzy. They have no idea why the ump didn't place Jeter on third. They're positive he started on second.

Yeah, Girardi is correct, it's better to have the run in and Beltran still batting. Just slightly higher run expectancy (by 0.1 runs).

37 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:56 pm

well that worked out. But yes, it took too long. Efficiency will come with time I hope.

38 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:57 pm

[36] Jeter actually started on another plane of existence. That was part of the confusion.

39 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 6:58 pm

alas. time for my work call. love my ipad. i can watch the game and work too!

40 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:01 pm

Goo work, CC. Lead off walk. oi!

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:07 pm

Walks are bad, ummmkay, CC?

42 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:08 pm

Wow.

We can keep Solarte.

43 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:08 pm

ooh solarte. showing off tonight.

44 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:09 pm

Nice, CC

45 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:09 pm

Yay!
CC can still fool the younguns, anyway.

46 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:09 pm

nice close CC. OK, let's score more runs! yay!

47 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:12 pm

Boom!

Teix message!

48 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:12 pm

woo hoo! happy tex!

49 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:12 pm

I have a feeling Girardi is not going to ask the ump to check Doubront for pine tar.

50 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:13 pm

[49] he should for kicks.

51 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:14 pm

Red Sox defense: the gift that keeps on giving!

I might rather have hits, but this is fun too.

52 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:14 pm

More oopsies from the Error Sox.

53 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:16 pm

Hey Brett!
Maybe he's taking lessons from Jacoby. That was a great jump.

54 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:17 pm

Who is this kid wearing Gardner's uniform??

55 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:17 pm

nice! go brett go!

56 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:17 pm

Oh, man. Brian R. joins the party!!

57 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:18 pm

So far, this team is ... doing a lot better than I thought it would.

58 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:18 pm

Another gift run.

59 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:18 pm

Oh, Juan Nieves is going to ask the umpire to check Doubront for pine tar.

60 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:21 pm

Yeah, Doubront is making it easy to steal.

61 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:22 pm

Lovely, just lovely.

62 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:22 pm

Me like. Really really like.

63 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:22 pm

omg that was entertaining. The outfielders need pine tar too.

64 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:23 pm

Jackie Bradley Jr making it look easy out there.

Very sweet. I could watch this inning for another hour, boys, don't rush!

65 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:24 pm

where is thelarmis? This reminds me that our drummer is always dropping his drum sticks. I've recommended pine tar.

66 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:27 pm

boo, how did that inning end?

67 knuckles   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:28 pm

That's a horseshit strike 3. Maybe you call that on Solarte but not Jeter. Ump must have a 10pm table in the north end somewhere.

68 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:30 pm

Let's go, no base runners for Papi, please.

69 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:30 pm

[30] I can't take too much of Jerry Remy. But also shut off Ma & Pa after 30 seconds..maybe I'm too picky?

70 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:30 pm

Throw strikes, slightly-less Big Man!

71 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:31 pm

DAMMIT.

This is Sabathia compensating for lost velocity, right? Or just doesn't have control?

72 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:33 pm

Sigh.

73 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:36 pm

Aw nuts.

74 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:38 pm

why are the timestamps in central time? Never noticed that before. Or is that just me for some odd reason?

75 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:40 pm

[74] No adjusting to daylight savings.

76 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:40 pm

shit. stop this cc.

77 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:41 pm

[74] ah i see.

78 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:42 pm

And Young Jervis ends the madness.

Star of the game?

79 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:43 pm

Wait, it's only the bottom 3rd?? Didn't his game start 90mins ago?

80 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:46 pm

well, damn.

81 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:47 pm

that works better. just hit the damn wall.

82 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:50 pm

[77] I'm assuming. Only makes sense.

83 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:51 pm

i'm greedy. triple it grittner.

84 rufuswashere   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:52 pm

Watching Sabathia in this diminished state is unsettling. Seems he's relying on moving the breaking pitches around, but he has no fastball to offset it so the deception is minimal.

Might be hard to watch a full season of this. Maybe Yanks will score enough runs tonight so it won't matter!

85 coleman42   ~  Apr 24, 2014 7:54 pm

Sox have quietly logged 4 errors in 4 innings

86 coleman42   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:00 pm

Payback time

87 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:02 pm

My Little Striky!

88 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:03 pm

Big Fella needs a couple of short innings from here on out.

89 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:18 pm

CC looks okay. I mean, he doesn't tire. So maybe he can still give us big bunches of good innings, even if the long great stretches might be mainly behind him.

90 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:19 pm

Sea Sea Sea Bathia. He's become a gristled wily veteran. He can give you 120 pitches, but can he beat a hot team in an important game. I root for him.

This seems like a fun sloppy game to watch. Do the Sox fielders need pine tar tonight?

Napoli could hide just about anything in that beard.

91 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:19 pm

Got both of 'em!

92 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:19 pm

[90] Or his gut.

93 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:20 pm

That was a strike, Naps.

94 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:22 pm

[92] yeah... but he's a bonifide Yankee Killa

95 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:23 pm

[94] I've always been amazed how baseball players can really look over-weight and yet be so athletic. The ol' David Wells.

96 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:27 pm

Hmmmm.
I think Gomes could have caught that. He misjudged it. Tough play.

97 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:27 pm

[95] TV puts 20 lbs on them when they're that tall. In person they are a mountain of a man and athletic.

I love that tin sound when the Yankees are up.

98 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:27 pm

Way to quit on it, Johnny.

99 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:33 pm

And CC has quietly [85] logged his seventh strikeout.

100 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:38 pm

[92] Mr. OK ... just ordered the latest Miles "Bootleg" set ... Fillmore 1970.

102 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:42 pm

if you are going to play your defense that way, why are you throwing it so far outside?

103 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:44 pm

Must be MLB.tv, but Roberts looks like he's got jaundice ...

104 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:44 pm

If we plate these two I won't be greedy and ask for more.

118 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:48 pm

Mwahahahahahahahaha!

119 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:48 pm

120 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:48 pm

Hm.
Well, I did say, so okay.

121 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:48 pm

so much fun!

122 rbj   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:48 pm

[114] Great minds, great minds. Another hit for Jeter.

123 mhoward120   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:49 pm

I am TRULY and THOROUGHLY enjoying this

124 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:49 pm

Hee hee.

beltran slows down to a crawl and they completely blow it. i love it!

127 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:51 pm

No error?? Huh. Just an FC.

128 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:54 pm

[127] That's another inane scoring rule. Something about not being able to assume a double play. In other words, Bollocks.

129 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:55 pm

my god, wtf is with these red sox? the catcher nearly threw that ball into nothingness

130 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:56 pm

Loaded again.

Okay, I'm not allowed to ask. But it would be fun.

131 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 8:59 pm

138 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:08 pm

oh jetes with the sympathy error.

139 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:09 pm

Oy.

Okay, let's start again. Just ignore it. Plenty of room for... error.

140 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:09 pm

omg wtf is happening?

141 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:10 pm

There ya go!
Now build on that confidence, Shane.

142 mhoward120   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:10 pm

The Sux better pull the Yankees' finger and fast - soon they'll be so far behind in the standings that they won't even get a whiff.

143 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:12 pm

Hm.

144 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:14 pm

54.

154 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:25 pm

Dusty is so tiny, that really wasn't a fair hit for Brian.

155 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:25 pm

Jaundice, I'm telling y'all ...

156 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:25 pm

0 ERA. all unearned runs.

157 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:25 pm

I mean, a human-sized second baseman would have caught that. Does the official scorer take that into account?

158 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:27 pm

[156] Hey, right, because of Jeter's error. Heh. And no hits, and a K! So if you don't look too closely (and weren't actually watching the game) it looks like he did fine.

159 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:28 pm

[153] =)

160 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:29 pm

Figures.
Well, how about an rbi for Jetes here.

161 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:30 pm

Or a walk for his OBP.

How about an RBI for Carlos, then?

162 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:31 pm

Nope.

Then, how about a three-run homer for Sori?

163 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:32 pm

Curses.

Is this the thirty fifth inning? Who's our thirty-fifth inning guy?

164 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:34 pm

Oh, they're singing "Sweet Caroline". Isn't that nice?

This could be a long inning.

171 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:45 pm

Or not.

172 RIYank   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:47 pm

"He needs work", I guess.

173 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:52 pm

175 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 9:53 pm

[174] it would be with a home run. in my opinion.

Yay! Easily skating in under four hours!

186 seamus   ~  Apr 24, 2014 10:04 pm
