The Yankees’ 9-game winning streak came to an end last night as they lost a close one in Houston. And tonight they’ve got Verlander to deal with.

Never mind those pitchers:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Notoptimistic facing JV

2 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 7:26 pm

Good first for Monty.

3 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 7:35 pm

Uh oh, German warming

4 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 7:38 pm

German in, hope it's not serious for Montgomery.

5 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 7:38 pm

Crap. Hope it’s nothing serious with Monty

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 1, 2018 7:52 pm

What happened to young Monty Burns?

7 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 7:56 pm

That is weak tea. Trying to bunt Verlander on a full count. Bleh.

8 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 7:58 pm

Stonecutters ...

9 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 8:04 pm

[6] he took himself out to give German some work. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

Uh oh:

Here's the update on Jordan Montgomery: the Yankees start left tonight's game after the first inning with left elbow tightness. He'll return to New York tomorrow, and will be evaluated by Dr. Chris Ahmad.

[10] Any mention of 'elbow' is...not good.
Btw, interesting that Corey Bob Seager on the Dodgers is having TJ surgery, isn't that rare for a position player?

12 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 8:15 pm

[11] Gleyber, last year, on a slide. Non-throwing arm

13 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 8:16 pm

I've seen this movie before. Not a fan.

14 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 1, 2018 8:29 pm

[12] Ah of course, forgot that. Gleyber looks smooth at 2B..loving an infield of Andujar, Sir Didi, Gleyber and Nick Johnson, er.. Greg Bird at 1B.

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 8:30 pm

That is a cool infield.

16 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 8:32 pm

Dueling bagels so far.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 8:33 pm

JV would go 30-0 each year if he only faced the Yanks. Grrrrr.....

18 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 8:33 pm

The pitching tonight has been fantastic, and I'm talking about the Yankees.

19 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 8:37 pm

I'm calling it: the Yankees win it on a homer off a reliever.

(I know, that's bold.;>)

20 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 8:41 pm

Jesus Fucking Christ!

21 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 8:48 pm

If this is German going forward, he's a perfect replacement for the rotation.

22 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 8:53 pm

shitty ABs

23 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 8:55 pm

[21] If ...

24 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:03 pm

[23] Well, an elbow injury. I'm assuming it's the DL for Monty.

25 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 9:04 pm

[24] Just hoping its not TJ.

26 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:12 pm

[25] I am waiting for a study that says they are going to TJ too fast these days.

27 rbj   ~  May 1, 2018 9:13 pm

Oy

28 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:20 pm

Phew. That was more exciting that it should have been.

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:39 pm

Score a bunch now.

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:44 pm

I like it. Now don't fuck it up!

31 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:45 pm

A hit's as good as a walk.

32 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 1, 2018 9:45 pm

I won't boo him, but still..can Stanton not K here?

33 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:46 pm

Woo-Hoo!

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:46 pm

One more slider away. Why not?

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:47 pm

Lame. Fucking lame, Stanton!

36 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 9:49 pm

Fuck, Stanton has no fucking idea what he's doing up there right now ...

37 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 1, 2018 9:49 pm

I never watched the Marlins last year so don't know but..Stanton has a LOT of awful looking ABs...

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:49 pm

The Sanchize!

39 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:49 pm

Christ on a candlestick.

40 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 1, 2018 9:50 pm

KA BOOOOOOM!

41 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:51 pm

Loved the bat flip.

42 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 9:52 pm

I don't even think Gary squared that one up ...

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 9:53 pm

I agree. I never saw any of Stanton's at bats as a Marlin. A home run highlight here or there. His stance looks super fugly.

44 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 9:54 pm

Luckily, unlike the Marlins, we are NOT only Stanton.

45 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 9:57 pm

Don't jinx it Michael.

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 10:00 pm

That is good baseball.

47 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 10:01 pm

[43] What do I know, but he really looks lost. He always seems to be swinging at the first pitch. Kind of tense (which I was optimistically viewing as "locked in").

48 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 10:02 pm

Is the worm turning?

49 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 10:03 pm

Alright, Chapman, finish this out.

50 cult of basebaal   ~  May 1, 2018 10:09 pm

LOVELY, just lovely.

Hope Montgomery is only out for a short while ...

51 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 1, 2018 10:10 pm

Bizarre. Good win? Lol... Enjoy yourr 15 K's, JV.

52 Boatzilla   ~  May 1, 2018 10:15 pm

That's was great baseball. (I won't remind you'll that I called it.)

How about a laugher tomorrow? Tanaka has enjoyed enormous run support this year.
