If They Pimp It, They Will Play

Yanks and the formidable Chicago White Sox play in the Field of Dreams tonight.

Oh, what nostalgia. Not for me. But, still. LOL.

Hope it provides some dumb fun.

Yanks on a little run here. Funski.

Never mind the sentiment:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Brilliant thread header, Alex.

What a joke this thing is. During a pre-game interview I saw a drone hovering over the outfield. Just like old times.

2 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:29 pm

I see Madison Avenue made it to the Field of Dreams.

(0) You so baaaaad, AB Iowa, I’ll pass, thanks.
Cool uniforms though for the ChiSox.

4 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:42 pm

Does anyone else think of Green Acres whenever Heaney pitches?

5 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:44 pm

Ok, I’m already sorry for my snarky comment. Tater into the corn field is kind of cool.
Heavy stinks, btw..

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:46 pm

‘Heavy’, not ‘Heavy’

7 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:50 pm

[5] Snark away, dude. This game is a made-to-order snark fest.

8 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:51 pm

[6] Whut? He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

9 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:53 pm

I suppose Lynn is Cash Ahab's Great White Whale.

10 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 6:53 pm

(7) Yeah, I’m back to snark. Hearing JoeBuck wax poetic about ‘small town Iowa’ is hysterical. He’ll be ok the earliest forstcalss ticket out after the game

11 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:04 pm

[10] Honestly, aside from the movie, I don't get the connection between Mid-West cornfields and baseball.

BTW, see if you can spot any black folks in the stands.

12 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:06 pm

(11) Hah! I’d imagine not the most diverse part of the country. I actually once went to Dubuque, Iowa. Famous ‘ham’ town I was told.

Does anyone really like the movie? They should do a Bull Durham tie up instead, but I I guess that’s too naughty a film for MLB

13 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:10 pm

My bad, Looks like they bused in some high school or Little League players.

14 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:11 pm

[12] Right. Why not, "Bang The Drum Slowly." ;>)

15 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:14 pm

(14) Major League?

Lance Lynn looks like he’s enjoy a beer or seven..

16 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:18 pm

Judge bring new meaning to "can of corn."

17 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:19 pm

My field of dreams was the old Boogie Down in the Bronx. Graffiti on the subway cars. The smell of reefer in the stands. And being afraid to go to the men's room.

18 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:27 pm

Cole on the field: "It was very well received."

19 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:35 pm

(17) I was too young to notice the reefer smells, but certainly remember the graffiti and awful bathrooms!

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:36 pm

Heany is terrible, leave him in Iowa..

21 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 7:41 pm

[19] Ha. One time the old man ratted on some smokers near us.

22 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 9:21 pm

"If you build it, they will come" could be the tagline for an adult movie company.

23 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 9:47 pm

Woo-hoo! Sometimes it pays to hang in there.

Now, who's gonna close?

24 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 9:49 pm

Britton with a one-run lead. High anxiety time.

25 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 9:55 pm

Fuck me. Why do I even bother?

26 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 12, 2021 9:58 pm

This team just knows how to lose in big ways, and bigger ways and the biggest ways. That's got to be the theme of this season.

27 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 12, 2021 10:35 pm

I missed the ending..Sigh..

28 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 13, 2021 2:50 pm

Ha, and it ends on a homer in the corn. Go figure.

29 rob_smith_51   ~  Aug 14, 2021 7:31 pm

Seems like the Yanks are getting a lot of deep fly balls. Just need to go a little bit further

30 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:25 pm

[29] Looks like we got one.

31 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:26 pm

Who likes Green in tight games anymore?

Not me. This has disaster written all over it.

32 BobbyB   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:27 pm

Ugh! I think I know how this ends…

33 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:52 pm

JFC. Why would he throw a curve there?

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:53 pm

Atta boy, Chad! You throw 98, but throw that hanger.

35 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Aug 14, 2021 9:57 pm

[33/34] Yes, Why would you throw a breaking ball there??

36 BobbyB   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:00 pm

Who’s a bigger bum? Chase man, Britton or Green?

37 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:01 pm

Well given how long we went without any kind of left handed hitting I figure Cashman would fix the bullpen and a lack of depth in the rotation sometime in the year 2025

38 BobbyB   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:02 pm

Chapman. Stupid auto correct.

39 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:03 pm

Well I'll be! Gallo with a BOMB!

40 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:05 pm

I would have Riddling close going forward. Forget the veteran hasbeens who have all "suddenly" forgotten how to pitch when they banned the sticky stuff

41 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:05 pm

[39] But can he pitch?

42 BobbyB   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:06 pm

Joey Jacks one? Calm yourself Sterling.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:16 pm

Sterling? Yikes. Lol...

44 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:17 pm

If anyone can fuck this game up it's Zack Britton. Go Zack.

45 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:19 pm

Britton looks like he's pitching scared.

46 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:21 pm

Maybe Krisk is now better than Britton? Call him up.

47 BobbyB   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:23 pm

Groundhog Day.

48 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:23 pm

So bring in a rookie with the bases loaded. Brilliant, Boonie!

49 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:24 pm

[48] Cashman has given Boone a garbage staff this year what is Boone supposed to do?

50 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:29 pm

Zack Britton should never pitch again in anything but mop up going forward.

51 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:31 pm

Sketchy! Exhale.

52 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:32 pm

Abreu should be the new closer until further notice. Fock Green and Britton.

53 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:33 pm

And Green gets the "win."

54 yankintexas   ~  Aug 14, 2021 10:36 pm

And Beitton with the "hold". More like a load.

55 rob_smith_51   ~  Aug 15, 2021 12:35 am

Hendricks got the win on Thursday. Explain how that makes sense. Give up 4 runs to blow a 3 run lead. I guess he did get 3 outs, too.

56 Shaun P.   ~  Aug 15, 2021 7:23 am

[0] AB, that pic was the perfect one for the cash grab that was that game. So spot on.

[55] Archaic rules developed in the 1800s, when the game was really different (2-3 pitchers per team, per year) really lost all meaning when the game changed in the 70s - to say nothing of today when most games feature double that many pitchers - but MLB has never bothered to update the rules, so...

57 BobbyB   ~  Aug 15, 2021 4:46 pm

Reminds me of 1995. Never an easy save.

58 yankintexas   ~  Aug 15, 2021 5:00 pm

Yeah reminds me of any year this team didn't make the playoffs. No yeam has ever been successful playing like this.

59 rob_smith_51   ~  Aug 15, 2021 6:30 pm

If they squeeze into the playoffs, I will be happy. Anything else is gravy, IMO.

60 yankintexas   ~  Aug 16, 2021 7:44 pm

Bar getting lower eh?

61 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 16, 2021 8:50 pm

C'mon, Chad! You can do it!

62 yankintexas   ~  Aug 16, 2021 9:08 pm

MLB creates a new rule to reduce number of pitching changes (ie 3 batter minimum) and Boone is like, hold my beer.

63 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 17, 2021 2:10 pm

Whoo-hoo! Big bottom of the 5th! Luke doinks one for 2 runs and Stanton smashes a 3-0 line drive for an rbi single.

64 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 17, 2021 2:59 pm

Let's see if the red sox can show the Yankees how to score when the bases are loaded.

65 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 17, 2021 3:08 pm

Hell Yeah! Craziness!

66 BobbyB   ~  Aug 17, 2021 8:16 pm

Holy shit! That was some play by Persota!!!

67 BobbyB   ~  Aug 17, 2021 8:16 pm

Peralta

68 yankintexas   ~  Aug 17, 2021 8:23 pm

Is the ball ok?

69 Ara Just Fair   ~  Aug 17, 2021 8:42 pm

Holy shite! Good times.

70 Boatzilla   ~  Aug 17, 2021 8:42 pm

Sox got Ryan McBroomed!

Good solid win.

71 yankintexas   ~  Aug 17, 2021 9:02 pm

So with Rizzo back is Voit going to DH and Judge move to center?

72 BobbyB   ~  Aug 17, 2021 9:15 pm

Rizzo needs to start in Yankee stadium. Lefty bat to the short porch. I like the idea of Voit DH and Judge CF though Gallo may be a better CF. Stanton is decent enough in right, his bat is alive. Tyler Wade is opening some eyes finally. One day he’s batting .160 you blinked and he’s batting .260 flashing leather and a legit threat on the basepath.

Been a while since I have posted, mostly due to being away from home w/o much internet.

I (like many of you) thought the season was cooked. Then, after yesterday, we're hoping for a playoff birth. After that, who knows?

What it comes down to, imho, is how well the army of guys on the IL come back. If we can get Chappie hot, there's still a chance. I must admit that it's been fun watching the kids play, but I'd rather see them in a couple of years when they might become real stars.
